Suggest me a good RM title to play!

  1. I'm coming back to RPG Maker Ace after i've been away for about a year due to distractions, and to get me into the RM spirit, I need a good title to play to get a grasp of the engine's capabilities once again. Especially since there are probably many new neat scripts and ideas within the past year, and maybe someone made a really great game.

What I am looking for in detail for game suggestions to play:

    • Must be a complete, finished game (or at least very lengthy)
    • Must have a good amount of effort put into it (personal opinionated but there's a general line that most people will probably agree with)
    • Strays away from database/script defaults (looking at those script uses that I am familiar with that don't change the default icons or names or anything, makes me shiver)
Like for example I tried playing this one VX game yesterday that used default animations and default script settings (like tankentai defaults), made me not want to continue playing
    • English language
    • Complex mechanics are preferred, nothing too simple (especially for battles)
    • Engine must be either VX or Ace

Now excuse me while I go scuba-dive myself into the projects-section of the forum to see what's there~

PS: Please try not to dump "playtest my demos" here. x_x
  2. My game http://rpgmaker.net/games/6366/

    Effort? yes ...

Default? No... I hate default as well. All the animations and anything are custom. Include the facesets and battleback

However, it has some bad sides

    - It just around 3 hours

    - No complex story

    - Used RTP Tileset.
  3. Ones that have caught my attention, may or may not meet your guidelines.

    Undefeated

    Star Stealing Prince

Final Quest - A Disciples Journey

    Rise of Erebus

    Subterranean Starfield
  4. Also, taken from my playlists

    http://rpgmaker.net/games/1722/ (Avarice)

I personally like the mouse system where you need to click to shot your projectile to enemy. Yes, it's ABS...

    http://rpgmaker.net/games/5943/ (Project Oscine)

Has very good character customization. You can set your own party members.

However, it has no level. So that means it has no grinding purpose.

    http://rpgmaker.net/games/3373/ (Lunar Wish)

Has a lot of jokes... Custom animation as well

One of the best RM games I ever played

    http://rpgmaker.net/games/792/ (Legionwood)

I haven't finished this series. But it quite good

    EDIT:
    http://rpgmaker.net/games/3410/ (Aetherion)

Good dialogues, complex mechanic as well. Though, I haven't finished this game.
  5. Vagabond (has some flaws but overall very entertaining)

Chain of Retribution (has ups and downs but generally nice)

Tinkles must die (light but entertaining)

Any of our games? Check out my sig if you like I feel a bit iffy linking them myself.

Adventure types (no comabt but you should still try em)

    Ib

    Yume Nikki

    Castle Chase

Pretty sure I'm missing a huge chunk of games but I just woke up so this will have to do =_=
  6. Already completed Star Stealing Price and Lunar Wish, which I personally find as the best two RM titles that I know of. (although sadly Lunar Wish has some FPS issues, wish it was better optimized) I'll be checking out these, but other people should be free to list more of course. Gotta find them hidden gems to spike my motivation/creativity. (Well of course I have my own motivation/creativity, but I learn/adjust with visual and interactive enjoyment, I require a spark)
  7. Yes, play Vagabond. I played through it, as well, and while it is simple, it is cute and sweet and keeps you entertained all the way. And Indrah's or Indrah/Fomar's games are well written and hooking and always have some little twists to the RPG gameplay. They also have strong female characters and well written males. ;D

In search of dragons is not completed yet, but In Search of Immortality, In search of Clues Dead Moon Night and The Grumpy Knight are, to mention a bunch. Subject was text based and interesting one with horror spin to it. I admit that I am a bit biased here, as I have not played THAT many RM games outside of Indrah's, but they are sweet and worth it anyway.

One game I have not played myself, but have heard mostly good about it, was Master of the Wind. Same with the To the Moon, but that one costs a bit, while it is worthwhile. ;) Those at least were not yet mentioned here!
