Expected demo release: October 31, 2014

Stray Cat Crossing is a horror adventure game, much like The Witch's House and Ib, with additional inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, Spirited Away, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

"The cat. It's always about the cat for her, the insolent girl."

You find yourself in a red room with no way out.

"Finally shows up after years of waiting."
    "We've waited, didn't we?"
"And she's forgotten all about us, hasn't she?"

A red room with someone wearing a top hat.

"But she owes us favors, doesn't she?"
"And we'll take those favors, won't we?"

And he wants you to play his games.

"We'll play all day, won't we?"
"And if she wants to walk away"
"Then we'll just cut off her legs, won't we? Heehee!"
    "Wait, she's here? She's here!"
"Look! Look! Look at the hag!"
"Look what the cat dragged in!"

  2. This looks great and sounds intriguing. Good luck ^^
  3. Thank you, Slimmmeiske2! Glad you like it!
  4. Great artwork! Definitely following your devblog too. <:
  5. Your artist has talent, those tiles are amazing. Good luck with the release.
  6. To be honest, I'm tired of seeing countless Ib/Mad Father/Witch's House/whatever-inspired horrors, but hell, this one has 'Cat' in its title, so I'm good.

I'll give it to you guys, the presentation is really strong in this one. I know I shouldn't judge by the screenshots, but they do give away a pretty spooky atmosphere. Besides, I like how the protagonist is different, and not the typical little moe-loli girl, though that's only as much as I can understand from the premise you've given.
  7. Thank you all for the feedback!

@sai, thanks! we'll add more content in our dev blog soon!

@esbie, I shall let Jurlo know! We used parallax mapping btw, not tiles.

@TungerMan (or Batman?), thank you very much! Your opinion means a lot! Even though we were inspired by the typical RPG Maker horror games like many others, we wanted to create something different since we also were tired of little girl protagonists. Try out our demo when we release it to find out more! :)
  8. Here's a gif for you guys! Demo release in 6 days! :D I've added a preview of our title screen above, if you haven't checked it out yet.

  9. tbh, this game looks beautiful. It wouldn't need anything past it's atmosphere and story, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to playing it and seeing what it has to offer! :)
  10. That babyface.. I'm gonna follow this project for sure. Keep up the good work! Brilliant!
  11. Aw, thank you all! Only 3 more days/all-nighters XD
  12. Looks very promising! Will it be a commercial release? It certainly looks like it has the required quality.
  13. Thank you, @gRaViJa! That is something we are currently discussing!
  14. Stray Cat Crossing v1.0 has been released! Download it from above or our tumblr! Thank you all for your support! :D
  15. How much of the game is available in the demo? Looks quite interesting I will try the demo sometime. :)
  16. I've just started, but the sound doesn't seem to be working for me.

Edit: My fault. I must have turned it off using F1 for a previous game.
  17. I must admit, I'm not into horror, but this one looks a bit intriguing. Maybe because it seems like how Cat in the Hat would play out in my nightmares? :p

I might give it a try at some point. :)
  18. @Monkeysnow55, the demo contains about ~25% of the full game. This figure may change in the future and is only an estimation. Thanks!

@slimmmeiske2, let us know if you have any issues while playing! Glad it's working for you now

@mlogan, the Cat in the Hat? Very interesting nightmare, but sounds pretty creepy. Let me know what you think of the demo! :)

Demo v0.2 will be uploaded later today! We found some bugs that needed fixing.
  19. Fantastic demo! I really like the wholeness of the graphics and music. I also love the contrast between the proper, restrained Victorian-like atmosphere and the random, insane videos and static that pop up unexpectedly. Nice work!
  20. Tried it out for a bit.

I'm sad to say the game really lost interest for me very quickly. Despite the excellent visuals it seemed to not really do anything with them, and the gameplay was nothing to talk about. I lacked context about what I was doing anything, the creepiness/spooky factor was nowhere near enough to carry it out and walking back and forth through the same rooms at such a slow speed irritated me quickly.

This game's style may not really be my thing, I guess, but I still feel like speeding up things would help get rid of some of the tedium as it is, as well as establishing some more context or giving out more intriguing background information about the setting. It just feels like nothing is really happening, and you're wandering around a haunted house where half the rooms are closed or the workers are on vacation, making for a pretty lackluster experience :< Which sucks because the graphics are really cool.
