I'm working on a boss fight where the main gimmick is he changes modes on specific turns on a rotation with different attacks and abilities for each. I ran a battle test to ensure it was working properly, and it went fine for about three cycles, but then he stopped switching modes and started using only his attacks set to "Always". He does not use MP or TP, so it's not because he ran out of either. He was not stunned or silenced on the turns he was supposed to switch. I'm assuming I overlooked something.
His pattern goes like this:
Gear Change: Attack- Turn 1+19*X
Gear Change: Magic- Turn 7+25*X
Gear Change: Defense- Turn 13+31*X
Each ability grants a corresponding state that last for 6 turns, and he immediately switches when one ends, as according to plan.

You could make each skill turn on a switch and turn off the other two for each gear change.
And skills related to each gear mode can only be used IF that switch is on, that way the enemy will be forced to a moveset. -
and what are the skills for the other turns? His pattern goes like this:
Gear Change: Attack- Turn 1+19*X
Gear Change: Magic- Turn 7+25*X
Gear Change: Defense- Turn 13+31*X
Attack will be used on turn 1, turn 20, turn 39, turn 58 and so on - once every 19 turns
Magic will be used on turn 7, turn 32, turn 57, turn 72 and so on - once every 25 turns.
Defense will be used on turn 13, turn 44, turn 75, turn 106 and so on - once every 31 turns.
because you have given each of the three skills a different repeat number, they will NOT be sequential - for example on turn 72 it will activate magic and only three turns later the defense will activate on turn 75.
if you want a cycle then all three skills need to have the same cycle number. If you want three skills to last six turns each, the cycle number has to be 18 (3*6). That would require the numbers to be 1+18*x, 7+18*x and 13+18*x -
You're 100% correct, that fixed the issue perfectly. It's my first time making an enemy with turn specific move sets, and I guess I misinterpreted how that worked. Thanks for the assistance!and what are the skills for the other turns?
