Sideways Stairs Passage Settings

  1. What are the proper passability settings for sideways stairs? I'm trying to construct a map using the side view stairs from Ancient Dungeons and I'm using FenixFyreX's stairs movement script to automate the diagonal movement but I think the problem I'm having with setting up the passability settings for side view stairs should be universal? What am I doing wrong that I can't get proper up and down movement without making the tip parts of the stairs passable? Because then the player can just walk onto them from an upper left or right angle.
  2. I prefer to let them passible but to change their settings with the arrows in the tileset editor. The ones you can set if the character can go down but not up in x tile.
  3. Have you looked at the demo for FenixFyreX's stairs movement script?
From what I can see, you would need to lower the plank height value.
This script is not designed to be exact for the type of stairs you are using.
It's made more for a diagonal movement. but your movement on the stairs would be 2/3 diagonal.
So maybe change the settings to 3 for StairsOffset

Took a fair amount of experimenting but this worked. I had to just remove the passability from the parts overlapping the railings will still allowing for horizontal movement on the upper tiles.

Thanks for the advice. It should've occurred to me earlier to check the demo.
I'd have changed the offset to smooth out the animation but the issue was more one of collision detection to begin with, and I'll probably be using both styles of stairs and there's no real way to change the offset in game, so I figure I'm just going to have to compromise.
Either way, the problem's solved now.
