I want to make a Mega Man RPG, I want to know how to make proper sidescrolling for it to work though, something like
I know, bad example, but it's really the only example I have, so, can anyone help?
Sidescrolling RPG?

there is khas arc engine, maybe you can create it that way.
-
How would you go about making it like the video I linked, though? Apparently "Mavericks 2" was made in RpgMaker 2003
-
RM 2003 was never legally released in the US so you can't get support for it here. That means you aren't going to get exactly the same thing, any help we give you will be how to do it on one of the newer makers.
What is it about the videos that you're trying to recreate? If it's the perspective of the artwork then that's all graphical, you wouldn't even need a script for it. If it's the battle system, you'll want to look at the different ABS scripts out there. If it's the addition of platforming elements, then the Arc Engine would work. I also recall there being another script that put platforming elements into Ace, only it was for the normal RPG perspective instead of side view. -
Have you tried it? What is it missing? How would you go about making it like the video I linked, though? Apparently "Mavericks 2" was made in RpgMaker 2003

you could do the platforming elements from arc engine, and the battle system using animated battlers (can't remember who did the script)How would you go about making it like the video I linked, though? Apparently "Mavericks 2" was made in RpgMaker 2003

It can be done. Here is a link to the video of Millennium 3, Made in XP it has both the usual visual approach and sidescrolling - look out especially for the part where they are jumping down through the explosions.

it looks so laggy for a nice game XD

The game itself isn't laggy at all, but I understand from what people have said who have posted their own videos, this is what happens with videos of RM games.
-
weird how that works, maybe its just the right power when your playing it but when you bring a recorder in then it whacks all your game play.
-
I dunno why recording it causes some lag. When you're playing it runs very smoothly.
-
Just recorded badly I suppose. I use Fraps + Virtual Dub to record it and it looks exactly as in the game (unless I compress it and lower it's quality). But that is for Ace. I'm not sure about XP.

Interesting, but it is getting off topic, which is about helping the OP make a game using sidescrolling.
I suggest that the OP play Millennium 3 and see how it works in RM. Although made in XP, it can equally be done in Ace - if you are prepared to put in the effort with the graphics, which obviously can't be your usual tile sets, and are prepared to invest more time in mapping, gameplay etc.
