Should my new topic in Project forum be visible to me?

  1. Yesterday I posted a new topic in the Early Project Feedback forum. I know that the Project forums are moderated and it may take several days for it to be accepted or declined, and I am happy to wait as long as it takes. However, should I still be able to see the post in the forum and/or my list of posts on my user area?

I have just seen someone referring to having an 'Awaiting Moderation' message on their post in a Project forum, and yet I cannot see my post anywhere. Does this indicate it may have disappeared into a black hole when I submitted it?

This is not a problem for me as I cut and paste from a text file I wrote previously, but I'm wondering if I will need to re-submit it.

    Many thanks!
  2. no, you won't be able to see that, and no regular member can see the "awaiting moderation qeue".

Unfortunately, the Staff from Degica is small and often overworked, so they sometimes need several days until they can check those posts - and if your post doesn't comply to the forum rules, then they don't have the time to explain to you what you did wrong.

If the post isn't visible after three or four days (might be a week currently because due to the Humbe Bundle, a lot of other work was delayed), then most probably your topic wasn't correct according to the rules and got deleted - most of the time people forget the tagging rules for projects.

So in that case, read the forum rules in that specific forum part again and make a new topic following those rules if your post isn't visible in a week.
  3. Thanks for your quick response Andar.

I fully appreciate that the company staff are small and overworked - genuinely, as I've worked in IT support myself!

However, I am quite surprised that the (otherwise excellent) forum software doesn't allow you to see your own submitted topics that are awaiting moderation, either in the forum itself or in your list of posts on your user area. I am also surprised at the lack of notification of a moderators decline of your post - even just an anonymous automatically generated note or flag would be really helpful.

I guess this ensures that people who are serious about a project really do make an effort to follow the guidelines before clicking Submit - it helps seperate the wheat from the chaff!

May I ask who is able to see the 'awaiting moderation' queue that regular members cannot?
  4. ^_^ people who can see the 'awaiting approval' posts are moderators of forums. For example, a moderator can see any post awaiting approval within their moderation area - such as Shaz moderates the RGSS3 Script section, so she will see them there.

I thought it would be moderators, but I wondered if it was also a Members+ bonus.

The person who I mentioned above as being able to see an 'Awaiting Moderation' message on their post in a Project forum was not a moderator. If she was, I guess she would be able to moderate her own message! But I just looked at her post again and realised I misread what see wrote - see didn't see a message, but just referred to it as  'awaiting moderation'. My bad!

Anyway, thanks for your help. And on the subject of moderators... this topic can be closed now :)
  6. Actually, I don't moderate that section. The only area specifically assigned to me is Classifieds. So while, as a global moderator, I can SEE all posts awaiting approval, I don't jump in and handle them, as the mods assigned to those areas know the requirements for threads better than I do.

This thread is being closed, due to being solved. If for some reason you would like this thread re-opened, please report this post and leave a message why. Thank you.
