Shift + Right Clicking

So I get how to use this, but I always hit a snag, when i want to make a non rectangle/square shape to use for instance a shape like

[ ] [ ]

    [ ] [ ]

I can't just highlight those 4 squares, it grabs the other 2 squares as well, even using the pencil tool, am I doing something wrong here, as I was trying to add an extra cliff with that shape, but it took the grass below as well and ruined everything! :'(

So instead of taking that shapre it takes a 2x3 rectangle instead.

You can only select a rectangular region of tiles. If you want those 4 tiles, you'll have to copy and paste the top two, then copy and paste the bottom two.


Make sure you also hold down the shift key when you left-click to paste.

Ahh makes more sense then!
