  1. Shadow's Detective (updated 10/2/18)

UPDATE 10/2/18: NEW SCREENSHOTS UPLOADED! Anyway I had two jobs and am now back down to one so progress slowed more than I hoped but it should speed up again. Check out the new pictures when they are up! Also I dropped the bodyguard thing now Tyranny does all the violent stuff herself. Though I haven't really gotten the battle system up and running yet so it's mostly just core interactions.

This game is incredibly pre alpha and everything is subject to change. I mainly just hope that people will see the project and become interested in the potential. It's sort of a blend between the original shadowrun, rune factory, radiata knights, digimon cybersleuth, and goldensun. [sorry but progress slowed due to extra work that I had to do but should be speeding back up again soon! Expect a demo in the next week or two! and sorry if that doesn't work out since sometimes my computer freezes and files get corrupted and I have to redo stuff] Also this is a lightweight investigative jrpg whose core mechanics involve using action commands and conversation topics to uncover whether or not a dangerous rumor is true. But that's just outside of combat. The fighting mechanics which are turn based involve strategically selecting the most effective or creative attacks to defeat the enemy. There are no generic enemies. Every npc is handcrafted and can act as either foe or friend.

    SECTION A: SYNOPSIS
    Spoiler
    • The Ears of the Empire say that the Diamond Dragon may still be alive. The plot isn't linear but as Tyranny, the shadow investigator, you'll adventure and investigate.

    (These are optional)
    SECTION B: CHARACTERS
    Spoiler
The core concept of the combat requires that every character be deeply hand crafted. Rather than hordes of enemies every potential fight should feel similar to a title fight or something. Therefore every NPC can be considered the closest thing to a main character beyond the playable character Tyranny. Characters you can expect to encounter in the upcoming demo are:
    -The Shadow Dragon himself
    -Shadow Attendant
    -Shadow Chef and Chefette
    -Arsenal Master
    -Shadow Protege
    -Rebel "Hero"
    -Shadow Techie/Engineer
    -Shadow Trooper
    -Shadow Mage

    SECTION C: STORYLINE/PLOT
    Spoiler
The main players are the Shadow Dragon, your master and Lord of the Shadow Empire, and the Diamond Dragon, a powerful rebel wannabe Lord who is supposed to be dead.

SECTION D: SETTING AND/OR WORLD DEVELOPMENT
    Spoiler
The world and map design is supposed to reflect the corruption that we ignore to keep ourselves passive and tranquil in every day life. The core concept behind the maps is that these people readily accept a world that is obviously corrupt. In fact that is sort of the core concept driving the entire game. So all the darkness and shadows and messed up stuff is on purpose for the sake of the art reflecting the world.
  2. @Jchurch9 You'll need to add or link your images so they show directly in this thread. Additionally, a synopsis is a paragraph summarizing the plot of your story, not an outline of the more technical aspects.

  5. @taarna23 oh sorry i'll fix that I was just taking screenshots not pictures of the game itself
  6. @taarna23 hi i edited this and fixed the pictures
  7. @Jchurch9 From a technical standpoint, it's a privacy problem to you. From an images standpoint, people don't want to see everything when you're showing off your game.
