So far "The Tales that only Manah knows" is going steadily and I am just about to fully complete all the playable characters stats parameters, spells etc etc to be completely balanced.
Right now I am working on each of the characters roles and trying to make them be able to fulfill the roles that they can choose from and I already have an idea of how it is going to work and I even tested it a few times to see if it worked which it does perfectly but now I wanna know from other peoples perspective if the player (you) thinks that creating your own character roles on your own instead of each character having one role?
Here is an example:
Main character: Damage Dealer
2nd character: Tank or Damage Dealer
3rd character: Damage Dealer or Healer or Support
4th character: Tank or Damage Dealer or Healer
5th character: Damage Dealer
6th character: Damage Dealer or Support
As you can see these are the 6 character you can choose from in our current game, they can each play a specific role depending on the type of gear they wear, for example: Tanking gear gives TGR bonus stat and Healer gear gives more Heal% stat bonus. In a sense, this way if people that like to just try and out damage the enemies before they die they can have all the characters wear damage gear or if they want to play strategically like have 1 tank, 1 healer and 2 damage dealers they can go that route and build up their party to work that way. While testing the characters in having different roles, I made a system that if you try to make a character a hybrid he/she will only be able to work less than 50% of his/her role, so making a hybrid party is very close to a non-viable way in making the strongest party
I personally think this brings more strategy into a game depending on how you build your characters and I would like to know every ones opinion in going through this route in character development
Thanks for reading

Is any of the damage dealers mages? If so do you plan on having boosted magic if one goes that route? What you are saying is very interesting, I think it could work.

The answer to your question is: if the damage dealer is a spellcaster that fully rely on spells, then the gear you should give him/her is damage gear that focus' on MAG and MMP and not be mistaken to Support gear that gives MAG and LUK (LUK being able to apply and resist effects at a higher rating). But yes, if you want your spellcaster to be a damage dealer other than a support then you will be making him/her wear gear that boosts magic.

I like to refer to Etrian Odyssey when it comes to character roles. So yeah, a tank to circumvent damage, one/two damage dealers, physical and/ or magical, support/ crowd control, healer/ support and a fast character with conditional damage. Obviously these aren't clear cut when I go about them, a balance around potential gimmicks, skhicks and make them more flexible. Mixing and matching roles is something I link with conditional damage. Put enemy to sleep, then use a move that's stronger on a sleeping target for example. Also, would you expand on other classes, say a tank for example? :3
