Seeking team for Epic Mickey fan-sequel!

  1. What/Why: I am in the process of writing up a script for an Epic Mickey fan-sequel. If you are familiar with the series, you know that Junction Point was unfortunately closed before Epic Mickey 3 could be put into production. The second game, however, left off with a cliffhanger that was meant to lead in to the next game. Being a fan of the series, I thought it would be fun to create a RPG sequel to the game to finish up the storyline, and give everyone a bit more of the Oswald and Mickey team-up! However, I'm not the greatest with coding and programming. I had figured out basic functions back with RPG Maker XP, but now that I'm starting new with Ace... I would prefer to do the art/writing if someone else more familiar/experienced could take on the coding! Would also love help with sprites. I can manage fine with the character face graphics, but I'm afraid I'm no good with the actual sprites.

Who: Coders familiar with RPG Maker products (looking at Ace Lite for this possibly? But I'm open to using some of the older products.) Additional spriters and map-makers!

When: I am in no hurry! I have no intention of rushing people. I want this to be fun, not stressful. :)

STORYLINE: Following the events of the official game, Epic Mickey 2, all seems peaceful again in Wasteland. With the Mad Doctor redeemed, Mickey has returned to his life in the Toon World, while Oswald and his friends continue restoration of their own home. No one has really noticed the disappearance of the Petes... or Prescott, their prisoner. No one noticed what should have been dead giveaway clues to their diabolical plan, either. For unknown to all, the Petes had been working alongside the Doctor in his attempts to take over Wasteland, and now that he has been redeemed, they intend to take over and continue his work. Using Prescott's genius, and all of the Mad Doctor's previous research, they build the ultimate entertainment system theater -- the newest portal to the Toon World. And the next step of their plan? Kidnapping Minnie Mouse and bringing her to Wasteland, hoping to lure Mickey back to their domain. Why do they want to bring a hero back to Wasteland? Simple. They plan on using Minnie to force him to hand over the paint brush. And with the magical paint and thinner in their possession... there is no telling what they might do.

MICKEY MOUSE. One of our two heroes. Oswald's younger half brother, Mickey is the one who puts Wasteland into it's predicament in the first place, being the one who accidentally unleashed the Shadow Thinner Blot into the kingdom. But he has done his best in his adventures to redeem himself and save the kingdom he nearly destroyed. But now that his sweetheart Minnie has been dragged into his mess, he will do everything and anything in his power to get her back safely. But... how can he save Wasteland at the same time? What decisions will he have to face?

OSWALD THE LUCKY RABBIT. One of our two heroes. Oswald was once a star in Toon World, though he was quickly forgotten when Mickey found his spotlight. Now a 'Forgotten Toon', he was banished to Wasteland, where he was chosen by the residents as their leader. But in trying to provide for his kingdom, Oswald has made many mistakes, believing them in his own mind to be the right path. Now with Mickey at his side, he is learning how to clean up his messes and make the right decisions for his people... but now he may have to return the favor and keep Mickey from making another disastrous mistake.

MINNIE MOUSE. Up until now, Minnie has not taken part in Mickey's adventures in Wasteland, and perhaps has chalked up his tales as mere figments of his imagination. But now that she has been dragged into the Petes' plot, she realizes all too quickly that Wasteland is indeed real... and just as dangerous as Mickey made it out to be.

ORTENSIA THE CAT. Oswald's wife, and mother of their 420 bunny children. Tired of 'playing it safe', Ortensia decides to journey with Oswald and Mickey this time, acting as a healer using the plants grown in her garden.

    NOTES:

    • Epic Mickey has always been about 'choices', and the path you choose to take. I would love to incorporate that into this game. The original two games usually have two endings -- one that is the 'good' ending, providing you make good/right choices, and then the bad ending that comes with making bad/poor decisions. Not sure if such a thing is possible with RPGMaker, but that's part of the reason I need help with the coding. :) Need someone who is familiar enough to know what we can do!

    • The two main weapons of the series are Mickey's magical paintbrush and Oswald's remote control. Mickey uses paint to fix things in the environment and make enemies friendly, while the thinner is used to destroy and kill. Oswald's remote is used on panels to open doors, treasure chests, fix machinery, and start up moving platforms. Again, not sure how these could be implemented in RPGMaker, but would love to try! (Even if it's just a text action box of "Would you like to use paint on this object? Would you like to use thinner on this object" etc.

    • The game would start with Mickey as the main playable character. Over the course of the game, Oswald, Ortensia, and finally Minnie would be added in as playable/part of your team.

If you are interested, please reply here or PM me! :) I hope to work with you!

(Face Sprites by me. Please do not use!)

  2. Storyline and a couple of character bios added. Also included are four of the 'face graphics' created thusfar.
  3. If you are needing a database manager i would be willing to help.
  4. As in updating the information needed in the database? If so, that would be great! :) I would appreciate the help.

As far as the character sprites go, I am looking to do something similiar to the Epic Mickey: Power Of Illusion game. I've not seen any complete rips of those character sheets anywhere, sadly. (And that was a side-scroller, so it wouldn't give us everything we needed anyway...)

  5. I would love a Disney RPG... I just feel like making it be a sequel to to the epic Mickey games would be limiting... I dunno, it's your project so you can do what you like, but I would much prefer a seperate Disney RPG. Especially if you're trying to continue the story, which I really don't want to play... And it would be a sequel to someone else's work instead of just standing on its own. All I know of the Epic Mickey series is what a waste of the potential it was. I dunno, I would be willing to help with my very meager, meager talents if it wasn't for that. Sorry :(
  6. I would be willing to do a seperate Disney RPG at some point, certainly. But for this project, I just have a story in mind and I'd like to A) finish up the Epic Mickey series and B) hopefully give fans a little more of what they originally wanted for the games. :)

Have dabbled with a few more sprites... but I'm not the best sprite artist I'm afraid. So if anyone's looking for a new project who could spruce these up or make all new ones....

  7. Fair enough, guess I'll just leave you be then :p
  8. If you ever decide to start a Disney game of your own, hit me up! I'd love to help :)
