Abstract: Save your Mother is a commercial version of a highly succesful RPG Maker game that was created within the span of one month for the "Quest for Fun" contest. The original version won the first place and was downloaded by 39288 people before the download was removed. The commercial version improves on every single aspect of the original, including making many things from the ground up fresh and new, keeping many things that made the old game work but also improving on the format enough for a commercial release.

    Genre: Fantasy

    Engine: RPG Maker VX Ace

    Setting

The game takes place in the same Megaverse as all my other projects, as such there is a rich and robust world to build with the mythos of over 15 years of game making. The timeline for the game takes place about 500 years in the New World after the Old World was destroyed by the War of Gods, if anyone is interested or well versed in my mythos.

    Characters

There are quite several colorful characters in the game, here are just few important ones.

    Alice

    new_alice_color_test.png

Alice is the main character of the game, as well as the avatar the player controls throughout the game. She is a renowed scholar nicknamed "Silver Scholar" due to the coloring of her hair. She uses her knowledge and skills to find out about the legend of Elohim Cube as well as making use of it in solving the various tasks that wait inside.

    Jenna

    jenna_colored.jpg

Jenna is the rival you meet early into the game. She wants to obtain the cube as well for her own sake, though she wishes to sell the cube and earn a fortune from it. Jenna is unlike Alice, very streetsmarts girl and doesn't shy away from using dirty tactics. She and Alice are against each other but for no personal reason but rather them both having a common goal.

    Elisa

    Elisa.jpg

Elisa is the mother of Alice who has grown ill. Alice knows that nothing can cure her mother but the Elohim Cube, she has already tried everything but no ailment has worked, not even out of ordinary cures. The game ends if she dies.

    FAQ

    Q: Will there be a Kickstarter/Indiegogo/Whatever?

A: Sadly, no. While I would love nothing more than to get a fundraiser to be able to pay off some extra resources as well as possibly hiring voice actors, my country's idiotic laws prevent me from doing so. Everything about this game has been funded directly from my personal money that I was saving for years for this exact reason.

Q: I'm a composer and I'd like to do the soundtrack for this game, how do I come about to contacting you?

A: As flattered as I am, I sadly had to turn away already two very talented soundtrack artists. To be 100% honest, the game already has soundtrack and I've already paid for it.

  2. Looks interesting!  I like the graphical style.

If you need help with voiceovers, let me know although I'm not sure if you need any male parts, seeing as this looks very girl-centric.  That's actually what I do for a living, as a tv/radio reporter, I do a lot of talking with my mouth hole.  I've got a voiceover demo

Just FYI, I'm not doing impersations, they're approximations so no, they're not really spot on but moreso just to show my vocal range and for funsies.

Also, I'm in the middle of a move right now so if you have a short deadline, I might not be able to help ya.

First of all, thank you from your interest and thank you from your compliments on our chosen graphical style, I'll be sure to forward that to people responsible who'll most likely like those kind words.

Yes, there are quite few males too in the game though several are important, there's not that man NPC's in the game to begin with as most of the time you're either solving puzzles, discovering the world and logs about earlier adventurers and things like that. Your sounds is very soothing and good, and I like the clarity of your voice. I think it'd best fit to something that would make use of that clarity and your ability to use your "broadcast" type of speech, maybe giving voice over to the intro and ending credits, for instance, playing the part of the narator? That would be a possibility.  I am not able to compensate you for the work though, since literally everything about the game has been funded just by me from my own pocket, in fact I've already been sellign stuff to be able to cover the expenses as it is. (Don't worry, nothing important, mostly my old computer stuffs)

My deadline is not short at all, in fact it's very leniant, somewhat about summer, early autumn is going to be the release.
  4. As a fellow self funder myself, I feel ya. I have been doing my first entirely self funded game project which is not being funded by others and it takes easily four digits budget to do one.

That spider is huge and its expression is very creepy, is it also as battler?
  5. I feel like this is a game with potential. The style is awesome, good luck.

I could possibly waive my usual bejillion dollars an hour fee. :p

But I wouldn't offer the help if I wasn't interested.  I'll send you a pm.

Yes, the spider is animated, moves and has expressions. I'll make a video about it later.

  8. Seems like "Guardian Of Paradise" to me. Still looks neat though.

Never heard of it before, I checked a let's play for a bit and it's nothing like this game.
  10. One of the entirely new areas is the "Sulty Succubus" tavern where you can meet many new NPC's as well as a detaled storyline that will lead to the making of Hell Casket.

  11. Love that screenie of the dancing demons. It's also nice to see the stereotypical "demons = evil" in a game is being stripped away.

The thing is some demons are evil, some are nice.Just because the demon looks scary, doesn't mean they're automatically evil just for looking inhuman.

The added expression system however allows me to create unique ways of making someone look even more inhuman than just "horns" and such. For instance, Lady of Ice who looks like a gorgeous lady, never ever blinks. Never. In a game, where everyone blink and mouths move and such, it does stand out when someone does never, no matter how beautiful they are.
  13. I finished the Lava Pit today, it functions well with cliffs you can walk to but not through and stuff like that using  passability fixes to get terran altitude differences. I also made a really basic boulder puzzle.

  14. I haven't posted into this topic in a while but I have been working on this game. I also updated the screenshots since they were a bit outdated.  I hope I get to release this game this year still, though there's been a bit of delay in the graphical side of the game that kept it from being released earlier.  ;_;
  15. Hey there, everyone!
First, I would like to thank my supporters. I have some exciting news for you all today!

I have launched a new website. The address is http://tuomosgames.net/
Come check us out on the web!

Also, several users have expressed aggravation at there being ads on the greenlight trailers. I did not intend to do this. It is a habit for me to always enable monetization on videos that I make.
I listened to your concerns and comments and have disabled the monetization. Sorry about that!

Lastly, I have enlisted the help of another steam user to proofread descriptions, announcements, and the game’s script. English is not my native language, but I am doing my best to bring you all a game you can really enjoy.

Thank you for the comments and criticsm. It helps me make an even better game for you all!

  16. ATTENTION!!

I found out that the link if clicked in the picture lead to a wrong site one of those "this url could be yours blah blah" sorta things. I have no idea why that happened because the text version did lead to right place. I apologize if anyone used the image to go to the wrong place and I have no idea what caused that to happen.
  17. Looks great, voted for it on greenlight, good luck!!
  18. GREENLIGHT PASSED!!!

Thank you to everyone who voted during this process, it is an incredible feeling of joy that fills my heart as hundreds of people voted that they'd want to buy and play my game. It's a literal lifelong dream come true and I am so thankful for all the support I have received. I am just so happy that words cannot describe it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you everyone who have supported me and my game.
