    HI everyone,

This is my first ever project and I am really looking for some feedback

    Story1_zps342704d8.png

    Spoiler
300 years ago a war tore apart the world. Out of the need for protection a new craft was born. This craft was called Symbolism.

Symbolism was the art of crafting a rune that could hold the elemental energies that mages channel and allow them to be applied in a more versatile way. The craft of Symbolism allowed people to grow food in arid areas, create water to keep the land fertile. The Possibilities were only limited by the imagination of the Symbolagist crafting the rune and the abilities of the mage that would empower it.

The creation of runes brought a temporary break in the war, allowing relations between nations to be repaired and peace looked immanent.

However just as the world was becoming peaceful the leader of the Truvellian Nation launched an all out attack on the nations of the world. Using the power of runes implanted in to animals and soldiers he created monsters of unimaginable power. And nearly wiped all opposing nations off the face of the world.

Out of no where a man wielding a strange sword appeared and with it he obliterated the monsters and put an end to the empire the corrupted king was creating. It is said that the sword was made completely as a rune, and the mage that empowered it was blessed by Gia and could channel the energies of all the elements.

As quickly as the hero appeared he vanished, taking all the secrets of the sword with him, never to be seen again.

Though the monsters were defeated enough remained that the world soon became full of them. But with the aid of runes peace returned and kingdoms rose from the ashes of destruction left.

    But peace never lasts forever

    Spoiler
    Cirus (aka Ernest)

    Cirus_zps6f1a8b03.png
Cirus is a cocky full of himself loaner who grew up without a mother and a father who was never really there.

He is the light hearted joke maker/ sarcastic silliness to the game and is the main character.

    Ronin

    Spoiler
    Ronin_zpsaf748e68.png
Ronin is the straight laced adopted son of the guard captain of The Luna Kingdom. He has very little sense of humour and always follows his duty.

He was abandoned as a young child and survived in the forest using nothing but a stick as a weapon. When the guard captain found him fighting a pack of Batterams he decided to take him in and raise him as his own.

His ability with a stick soon turned in to a genius level of ability with a spear which earns him his place as second in command of the guard at a very young age of 21.

    Pipper

I haven't got as far as creating this character besides the name.

More re planned but as of yet I haven't started them.

    Spoiler
In the works but done at a basic level

: Battle system - in place with a few skills and several monsters, however not 100% on the balance of the monsters and experience

: Quest log - in place and operational, however there are very few quests outside of the main quest.

Main quest functions till end of the little demo

Side Quests : Can be found on the notice boards in both The Cresent Dock and The Luna Kingdom. Two side quests in total

NOTE: PLEASE IF YOU PLAY THE DEMO FIND THE SIDE QUEST IN THE LUNA KINGDOM AND GIVE ME FEEDBACK ON THE PUZZLES AND AREA IN GENERAL

: Monster Log - in place with all current monsters in the log after you defeat them as the main character

: Time system - in place and time can be told through interacting with clocks or when you receive the Cronus Rune

: Game story - continuous throughout and there are many books in place telling of the world.

: Crafting - All 3 crafts are in place on the basic level and recipes will be found in books thought the demo. However not many items are available to craft at this time

    Weaknesses

Ok so the things I am not good at are or need major work are as follows

: Spelling/Grammar - I suck at this and have yet to find someone to help me go through everything and point them all out. It has always been a problem for me and is something I am currently learning to try and correct.

: NPC - I fully intend to make all NPC say something at some point but at the moment the majority of them then do not interact at all.

: Battle balance - I have done my best to make the battles balanced and skills appropriate but feel a lot of work is needed

The game is largely in the works with most of the story and ideas changing all the time as I am basically making it up as I go along and learning the RPG Maker VX ace programme as I go along.

So many aspects may feel unfinished or lacking in some way and I would appreciate feedback on anything you may feel needs work or attention.

  2. I have no idea why the images are not showing considering I have not deleted or move them from my photo bucket, :( strange
  3. From the few images that did show up though...this looks pretty.
  4. Try hosting them on imgur.com instead. It's much more reliable.
  5. Finally sorted out the images so people can actually see what is going on now, So anyone interested please take a stab at the demo and let me know what you think :D

    Thankyou
  6. I played your game. I did a play through of as far as I could get. I hope you don't mind. If you'd like, I'll delete the play through after you have a chance to view it. I just hate typing out huge reviews and I figured the instant feedback of my natural reactions would be more useful. :) I'm not a very good gamer, so I hope it's still helpful. Thank you again for sharing your WIP.

  7. Well it was weird listening to someone play  my game and point out all the spelling mistakes haha, thank you now I can fix them :D I really appreciated the feedback, but I must say u missed allot of things that would help u while playing.

e.g You could have looked in the sink or found more of the treasure chests, there at least 1 on every map.

and you pointed out about the reflections but when you were stood next to an invisible chest that was reflecting in the water u missed it haha :D

Hint: U could climb vines as well to find things

do u think I should have highlighted this somewhere in the game?

Your commentary is great by the way!!

The bit with the boxes that you push is simple, all you need to do is push the one at the bottom left till u pass the little rock then push it up so it lines up with the edge of the cliff so you can jump from one box to the other

you actually found a mistake that let u get past that bit lol :D

Did you find the battles a bit to hard??

And it would be a great help if u could make some more videos of you playing after the point you have got to now.

ps. I wish RPG maker ha a built in spell check haha
  8. Yeah, I'm not a very good gamer. Haha. Though I think having someone that's not the best at games is just as valuable as having someone whose good at them play it, if only to help you place your game along the casual-hardcore spectrum. I wouldn't be very helpful for me to replay it though after you've told me the hints, you'd have to have someone fresh try it to know how user friendly your beginning is. I might or might not play more, I only play a couple of hours of video games a week, so I try to spread it out across different things. Thanks for making it available for playing! It was a fun demo!

P.S. You could always type your dialogue first in Google Docs or Microsoft word... or even a field on this website, since it's spell checking my post as I type it right now. :) Then you could just copy and paste. But like I said, if it slows you down, you might be better off looking for someone to proofreading it after the game's more or less done.
  9. Thanks for the tip you have been a big help
  10. shame full bump because I need more feedback still :D
  11. I'm not terribly fond of the font choice; it's a bit hard to read.

Also, I feel as though the resolution of your game (the game window size) is abnormally small compared to other games I've seen. I gave up playing the demo because the font was barely legible on my screen (although that said, my screen itself is pretty small).

It seems as though the spelling mistakes have already been pointed out. On top of using Word, perhaps you should have someone double-check your script to catch any grammatical errors that were possibly missed.
  12. the game screen size is the default size, I personally don't find it hard to read the font that the game uses but maybe that's because I use it all the time. Is there any other fonts you can suggest that gives the look of a handwritten text?
  13. Update New font for easier reading and a lot of work has been done on the spelling, Please play and give me feedback as I am in great need of it
