RPGVX Ace Activation issue

  1. Hi All,

I know this is the gazillionth post about this problem, but I was really looking forward to doing some fun stuff over our long Thangsgiving weekend. So, I am hoping that somebody has another idea, as I have just run out.

The problem is that I just cannot get the program activated on my laptop (Alienware 64bit Win7). I bought RPGVX Ace through this website, downloaded it from the latest download link, then I enter my credentials (email + product key) and hit 'activate'. Which is when I get this - see attached - sorry it's in German as my laptop still runs on German... But basically it says that the this program cannot show the website.

I have tried everything that I could find in the different forum threads i.e. turning off firewall and antivirus, connecting to a different ISP i.e. Verizon via cellphone instead of Optimum, used a free proxy (this thread), I have even switched from Wifi to wired and FF to IE ;) . Nothing helped.

Then I read in a thread that someone with the same issue had activated their software on a friend's computer etc. etc., so I installed it on my wife's desktop and there it activated with no problem at all. I mean, I did nothing, but enter my credentials and hit activate.I did not deactivate my firewall or anything. It just worked.

Not on my Alien ;_; . When I open RPG Maker VX Ace now on my Laptop, it (obviously) still comes up with the activation screen and it still gives me the same error window.

I really need it to work on my laptop as my wife wants her desktop to work on her photos :D

Any idea is appreciated... Thanks, guys and girls.

p.s. I have sent a ticket to support yesterday, but have not heard back yet

  2. Degica is a small company, and sometimes it takes time for them to work through all tickets.

Which program did you use for a firewall and how did you turn it off?

The message basically says that it could not load the adressed website, and if that happens several times and other websites work, then it's unlikely to be a connection or server problem.

Most probably one of the ports on that computer had been blocked, and in that case you need your firewall program to open the ports, not to end the program controlling the firewall.

Some firewall programs are intended to be deinstalled but leaving the wall intakt, to prevent the workers in a company from deactivating that firewall - that's why I asked how you opened your firewall.
  3. Thanks for your reply, Andar. I am using Norton Internet Security and I had simply deactivated it for 15 minutes to try the activation. There are program rules in NIS and RPG maker is 'allowed'. Hmm, would I need to manuall add Degica.somthing - I think I saw the authrization URL does not link to rpgmakerweb.

Would you know which port I would need to open and how do I do that?

p.s. also, I am pretty sure it is running the same settings as on the desktop
  4. Nope, I'm not that deep into TCP/IP - but Norton is exactly the Firewall I had in mind when writing about problems.

Deactivating NIS does NOT open the firewall, and you can take that as confirmed fact. You need to find the correct settings to allow the link - but usually NIS records all blocked accesses, so you should find the needed information somewhere in those logs.
  5. Well, I fiddled around with NIS and changed a lot of settings around. Among them opening ports 80 and 443. But it did not help. Sometimes during the fiddling, instead of getting above window right away, I got 'resource not found', which I could only click 'o.k.' and when I did, I got the window above again.

Also, I have still not heard back from their tech support, non - two weeks is pretty lousy, really... I sending another ticket right now, but am getting closer to the end of my trial.
  6. Can't you just go into Norton and tell it to allow that program through the firewall?

    Send a PM to Nathanial.
  7. Well, that was the first thing I tried i.e. set the program to 'allowed' - no go. Then disabled the firewall completely. Did not work either. Then I tried opening those ports, although one of them was already open. Still no success. Except for that additional message in between ('no resource'). I get the feeling it must be something else. But I'm just stomped as to what it could be.
  8. Well, I am by now extremely irritated as I can still not get it to run. I cannot even name everything that I have tried, without success. But what really gets me is the fact that I wrote technical support twice, never got a reply. But I did get their (automated) sales offers. Today I wrote them again, asking for help or a refund. This is extremely irritating, because I would really like to use the program.

Sorry about the little rant, but I am frustrated...
  9. Hi there,

I've sent in a direct request to have someone from support come and take a look. Unfortunately, sometimes our support tickets get caught by filters and never reach us. :)
  10. I noticed that you posted on another thread regarding your problem.

Did you send a PM to Nathaniel as Shaz suggested for you to do?
  11. Yeah, I stumbled across that thread and was hoping that the op had got a solution that would work for me, too.

Apologies, I must have skipped that line about Nathaniel. Hmm, but how do I contact him?

    And thanks!
  12. No problem, Kululu. ^^

If you look near the top left part of your screen, you will see an envelope symbol next to the notification symbol and your forum name.

Click on that and choose "Compose New Message"

Under Recipient's Name, enter "Nathanial B" and his name should pop up with the RPG Maker Web Staff tag (depending on your internet speed, it might take a little while).

You can then type in your

    Message Subject and Message.

    Good luck! ^^
  13. Hello,

I am having the same problem. Was this resolved? if it was resolved, how? I really need help. Thanks
