    Description

Dan the Rabbit is a turn-based RPGprototype. It's a quick project I'm doing to get a sense of construct's coding system, and find some techniques to better handle complex systems. I also wanted to have some demo to showcase the work I do as a designer and artist. It happens that I started it last week, while this contest is running! I'm pretty sure I won't be able to finish in time for the deadline, but there's no harm in trying, right?

    Target features

    • A dynamic, text-less RPG

    • Easy to pick-up

    • Polished visuals?

    How to play

The game features touch (and mouse)controls. Simply touch a button in order to interact with it!

  2. You let me speechless. :rock-left:   :p :rock-right:
  3. Not sure if your allowed to post non RPG Maker projects here (your not supposed to by normal forum rules - not sure if this sub-forum is an exception due to the contest.)

    Anyway - looks great ^_^
  4. I don't get this, what is it, and what are you supposed to do. All you get to do is die, or kill the stupid pig. What is the difference between the rabbit's three attacks, and why is ther only music but no sound when you walk or attack?
  5. Well, it's called an early prototype.
  6. oh, ok. So that's all there is to it for now. I thought I wasn't getting something. My bad. ;)
  7. Thanks you everybody for the feedback, and kind words =) !

Yes, for this contest, one can propose non-rpg maker games. At a disadvantage maybe though, as rpg maker gives you a lot of time to focus on the design and story elements, which are basically the key aspects that will be judged eventually.

Absolutely! Actually, I'm making most of the game from scratch, and this is initially meant to be a demo for my clients. I'd love to push everything to a small, yet finished game! But I'm not sure I'll have the time.

In the next versions, the three attacks will have three animations at least. The idea is to eventually have a little combo system based on touch movements (with swipes and holds), and synced to the music's BPM. However, I'm just starting with c2 at the moment, so it takes me a lot of time to code a system that scales up well when you add new functions!

Anyway, posting this is also a pretext to get in touch with the community. I bought rpg maker vx ace recently and want to see what can be achieved with a bit of personal assets and RGSS3!

    Have a nice day everyone,

    Nathan
  8. I didn't play it, but I love the art!
  9. Thanks much Tommy.

Here's a little update. For the past days, I've worked mainly on detailing the background elements. It's not the smartest approach to building up a project, but I needed a new piece for my art portfolio :

I have work to tackle on the side right now, so I cannot advance that super fast. But an updated game build will be available by the end of the week :) !
  10. This looks awesome and I can't wait for it to finish! Good luck on the 2014 igmc.
  11. Thanks DaBronze. I was unfortunately unable to make it for the contest, as I had planned: got quite a bit of work to tackle, which is never a bad thing I guess!

I have just updated the prototype, along with the release of my website. It now features a higher level of polish overall, with a bit of sound and music! It doesn't feature much more gameplay content, as the idea was to mostly build up an art demo. I'll be working on some other games next though. I'd really like to get back to RPG maker a bit.
