  1. I am UNBELIEVABLY frustrated. All I wanted to do is get the trial of RPG Maker VX and I am stuck with this wretched error!!! I've tried EVERYTHING. I've read every single topic on this cursed forum and NOTHING is working. I have rebooted re-installed installed to a different directory, changed my email, you name it, I did it. NOTHING is working. I made this account just to post this, so please freaking help me....

  2. You have to install RPG Maker XP's RTP. If that doesn't work, install the program, too. It is a bug with the engine that they are currently fixing.

    Didn't work :(
  4. Moved to Tech Support.

If you're still having trouble you should look into uninstalling VX, reboot PC, and reinstall it after.

You should have administrator rights on for the program, too, because that .DLL requires that to run.
  6. Helladen posted a great video for solving the issue, but if it doesn't work you can also try updating your drivers and installing elsewhere on the computer. Also, make sure you have the correct NET installed, as well as the required DirectX.

    I've done all these things.
  8. I made a video cause I'm nice. :3

You need to make sure you erase the .DLL from your system folder, too. I did not cover that in the video. You can find this by searching in Windows for CoGenDrm.dll.
  9. When you installed, did you make sure no shadows were left behind? Every time you uninstall, for anything, you should always make sure that isn't the case. Also, what OS are you running?

It is definitely a problem with the audio. Uninstalling, cleaning the PC free of previous installs, restarting the PC, updating all your drives (manually or automatically), uninstalling/updating DirectX audio and NET, and then reinstalling (with another restart of the PC) should cure it.

    EDIT:

Yes, delete the dlls like Helladen directs.

    Did that.
  11. Did you restart before you attempted to reinstall after Helladen's steps? Also, what OS are you running? *and please tell me if you already did what I directed in post #9*
  12. Its alright everyone, my friend gave me rpg maker ace and he got it working so what ever, screw VX
  13. I had more trouble with Ace than VX, guess it is just an inconsistent problem on Enterbrain's part.

VX Ace > XP > VX anyway.
  14. I had this issue with VX Ace. I am running Windows 8 (64-bit).

I managed to solve it using the method of installing VX Ace, VX, and XP. I just installed the programs for VX and XP, and I believe one of these provides a working version of the CoGenDRM.dll - Since VX FAILED to fix the error for me, I would be inclined to say that XP is the version you need.

I'd recommend everyone suffering with this issue install XP AFTER they install VX or VX Ace to make sure that this is the version of the CoGenDRM.dll that is installed in the windows assembly directory.
  15. Was trying to solve it all day using the above, no success.
    Tried different method.
As it came up with an error while installation saying that there are issues with .NET framework 2.0, went to google to download Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 from official microsoft website.
    I'm on Win10, so got NetFx20SP2_x64.exe
Installed (patched) the framework, uninstalled the game then installed it again. SUCCESS!
