  1. Hi,

I am just working on my IGMC entry (as most people are right now) and I was wondering...

Am I legally allowed to use the image in the spoiler within my RPG Maker Game? I assume so, since I own vx ace, but I figured I would ask :)

If anyone official could clarify this, that would be great ^_^
  2. Well, isn't your game non-rpg? Sorry for silly answer. :D

Just cause its not an RPG it doesn't mean I cant use the RPG Maker logo. It is being made in vx ace.. :)

    Edit:

Click the image and click 'save' - you will see the full image. Some of it is missing due to the white background ^_^
  4. I see, the RPG "Maker".
  5. ;) It works very well as my second splash screen...

But this isn't the place to discuss my splash screens really...

I just wanna know if I am allowed to include that image in my game - even if it went commercial. :)
  6. I don't see why it wouldn't hurt. It's only supporting the engine being used right?
  7. I would think you could use it on a page if you include the words "Made with ..." or something along those lines

Otherwise it gives the appearance that your game is somehow co-developed by, sponsored by or endorsed by RPG Maker, which isn't the case.

This is not an official answer.
  8. Yea thats a fair point.

I mean, obviously it hasn't been endorsed by RPG Maker or anything like that. It was developed using RPG Maker though. Like, I wouldn't have made the game had it not been for RPG Maker....

Should the need arise, I would happily take it out and replace it with something else but it would be nice to include it. ^_^
  9. Like shaz said, you could probably get away with using "Created using" or "Made with" or "Built inside"

Yes, I could... That is a suboptimal result though...

I would rather just replace the whole image if that was the case. I do have another that could be used instead, I would just prefer the RPG Maker one ;)
  11. yeah, just wait on an official answer. We could all give our opinions and reasoning until the cows come home, but still not get you any closer to the answer :)
  12. They arent going to have to get some lawyer type to find out are they?

I dont wanna cause any bother over such a small thing lol
  13. I doubt it.
  14. Yea, I figure someone - somewhere around here, will know whether the logo's can be used in commercial games.

Hopefully they see this post an can give an answer prior to me uploading my game lol
  15. Since the logo is not part of the RTP, license doesn't really cover it. So not sure how you assumed that website art is yours by buying the software.

I didn't assume that I owned the art. If I had assumed the art was mine, I would not have asked if it was ok to use.

The reason I assume I would be able to use the art within my game is simply because its an RPG Maker logo, being used within an RPG Maker Made Game.

For all we know - that logo has a 'free to use anywhere' kind of license.
  17. Well, I guess it's the same idea that we see with a lot of games where we see nVidia logos, Unreal logos, etc.. when they first start-up. You're not claiming the logo or the RPG Maker software, but if you put a "Developed with RPG Maker" along with the logo (or however it's worded so people know you're giving a nod to the RPG Maker software and not trying to claim it as your own), and you're also in a way helping to promote the RPG Maker software (people might think, "Wow! This game was made with RPG Maker? I should get it and try to make a game too."), then I can't see it being such a big deal. But of course, when in doubt, and until the official word is given that it's ok, it's best not to use it.
  18. indeed :p
