rpg maker 2000 - player keeps walking right

So recently I decided to do gameplay vids of my crappy old RPG Maker 2000 games just for fun (recording with Bandicam on a Windows 7 64-bit system). I was partway through one area of the game when all of a sudden, after traveling between maps, the player started walking right as if the arrow key were held down. Pressing any direction did nothing to stop it. Reloading the game didn't stop it. Starting a new game didn't stop it. The player just perpetually walks right now, no matter what.

So I loaded up one of the other games. Same issue! Player walks right forever! Every RM2K game I have on my hard drive now has a protagonist who forever walks to the right! I even uninstalled all the other games and loaded up the one where the problem started, and still nothing changed! That game isn't even in the same directory as all the others! And I can't re-install the game in question, because for some reason I don't have the installer anymore (i do for the others). This glitch doesn't occur in any other application or game on my system, either -- ONLY rm2k stuff.

Has anyone else ever encountered this before? Does anyone on the forums even have any experience with such an old version of the program? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
