Do you have a reference picture of a general idea about which type of rooftops that you need?
Traditional? Modern? Mix of both?
Tokyo isn't quite specific enough since the Tokyo today pretty much looks like any other developed city lol

And rural Tokyo (assuming that it is what the poster of the photos said it is)

-
Rural looks closer to what I was looking for
Was looking for like a evening kind of battle back where the main guy meets a friend again after a long time but she's now evil
These are examples of the area the main girl lives in I used Oreimo as a example as that's the one that I liked the look of the most
The girl would live in a rural bit of Japan shown in examples but would be close to the shops and have a grassy bit around near her house but im mostly looking for the roofs of the houses just thought the others would be good to post as gives a idea of the area as a whole

Or did you want something like this

I spent a little time planning for a draft... I think I narrow it down to either a flat roof (or the upside down V shaped roof) or those pyramid roof house (one of the picture in your attachment). Getting the perspective right on a pyramid roof is a pain in the backside, so I cheated a little... I prefer not to do it though and to keep the battlebacks consistent
My preferred roof (nice and flat xD)
My not-preferred roof:Spoiler
Let me know which one you prefer or if you want any changes made to the buildingsSpoiler
Edit: By the way, the area enclosed within the red rectangle is the (planned) final view of the battleback.
Edit 2: I suppose I can still do a pyramid roof and maintain the perspective I favor... But I guarantee that it will look odd if you have many battler because actor sprite does not scale in size even if they are far away, while the roof does... If I get to decide, I'd go with the battleback in my first screenshot lol

I like the first screenshot the most but I like how theres more buildings in the backround of the second one
Is there a way to use the flat roof but have it look like there's more roofs around like in the second one? Sorry if that sounds awkward
Also while I'm here is it possible to make this battleback like a cutscene so throughout the fight they jump along the roofs until ending up at the girls house
But I prefer the first screenshots roof Thankyou for making this for me ^_^
I forgot to ask stupidly but is this going to be for commercial feel stupid for not asking sooner -
Of course. Just in case you didn't notice, the building to the left in the first pic is not angled properly.. I can always shift more roofs closer ;)
Commercial or not, it doesn't matter as long as you give the proper credit.. (this is assuming that you are satisfied and will use the final product ;) ) -
Well I really like the flat roof but I would like to have more roofs around it so it looks like there fighting around like someone's street
The idea of this battle is for the main guy to meet a friend again after a long time and fight her and then he ends up on the roof and because she's so strong he gets hit so hard he crashes through the roof and she dissapears then he meets the main girl as it was her house he fell into not sure if that helps but the battle will only include 2 people -
What goes on with the roof is there any updates?
-
It is happening, but it is not on top of my priority list.
-
Okay I wasn't sure as I was going to work on something else if not I'll work on something else anyway as I have to wait
Thanks again -
As promised..
I made 2 versions, one with slightly narrower roof, the other one with wider roof for battleground, but the angle is ... impossible if you really think about it..
Mosf of the trees are made by Pandamaru
Preview:

Version 2.0

Version 1.0 (the one with impossible angle)

-
Are the pandamaru trees for commercial use? But
Omg they both look amazing this is gonna look so good for my games intro thanks so much for doing this proberly will use 2.0 thanks ^_^
Just a question though do you know how to make it look like they keep going across doods rather than staying on one? Like with events it's like they running across them like ninja
Also can I make it look like nighttime with a event?
But Thankyou so much for making this -

So I have to contact Pandamaru before I can use my battleback? Alright
-
For commercial project, yes.
-
One more question how would I use this? I'm not sure how to import battle backs is it one thing or two and can I make it look darker? Like its night time
-
Move it to your game's img folder and put it under battleback1
Making it darker without some adjustment will make it look weird. -
So what do I do about battleback 2?
-
You dont need one. This battleback covers for battleback1 and battleback2.
Look at the screenshot I added to my post
