RMXP audio defaulted to .midi and wont play anymore.

Just like the title says, after I bought and downloaded the Music Creator Touch 6 thing on steam, all the audio for RMXP switched from .ogg to .midi and now it wont play anywhere and I can't change it back. How do I fix this? I uninstalled Music Creator but it still defaults to .midi, even when I extract from the RMXP program itself.

RMXP Music is midi by default.

Yeah but if extracted it could still be played in say VLC or what have you. Now it doesn't :( . Is there a way to change it without using some sketch converter?

Is your midi playback set to Microsoft GS Wave Synthesis or something? Since if that's not set up correct, midi files won't play properly.

I dunno I don't know much about that stuff so I don't mess with it, so it's at whatever default is.

Also, is it possible to use the XP music from my RMXP in my VXA games? I mean I bought both so it technically should be allowed, but I don't know.

Yes you can. Just paste it directly to your game's music folder.


Also by default it should be set, I had a problem with Music Creator 6 messing with my settings too and I had to manually set them back. So you might want to check. It's been ages since I used VLC so I can't remember where in the settings to do that.

Well when I do the import thing in VXAce the files don't show up there either :( .

Do you remember how you fixed your music creator problem?

Can you just right-click the file and choose Open With and pick a new default program?


Installing new programs sometimes ends up with them claiming the rights to open any types of files that they recognize. The polite ones ask you if it's okay to do this. Sounds like that particular program isn't very polite.


Just copy the files and paste them into your Ace project's Audio folder (I assume in the BGM subfolder, but it depends on which subfolder it was in with XP).

I did it the way you and Archeia suggest Shaz by copying them into the folder directly.

Unfortunately I already tried that Shaz, VLC keeps telling me "We're sorry, but it's irreversible" or some junk, so changing it to a different format doesn't do anything :( . Perhaps it's time I change from VLC to something else.
