@Dalph Thanks for that feedback! I definitely chose games to make that I thought I could do and wanted to try, rather than think about what games might actually be fun to play. Great for learning, but again, backwards for the Game Jam entry. Which is why Krampus ended up warning the player that some games might be based entirely on luck. I realized that when the reality set in of just how much I was going to be able to implement. Making games like that are fine for learning and gaining experience, but not really for playing. And I definitely get the slowness part and the photos.

Bizarrely, I spent a lot of time searching for useable photos that would have been better spent developing the game!

Thanks again for your thoughts and for your patience in playing the game!

You took the criticism in a mature and responsible way, which is something I deeply respect, even I didn't do good in a very old game jam but it was one of my first (just like yours).
It was a learning experience ultimately, it's never time wasted when you finish something.

Looking forward for whatever else you'll make in future. Thanks a lot for joining!
  2. Forgor to say but yes feel free to share your feedback on our project.
My programmer needs it to improve the game, Thank you!

    EDIT: Whoops, double post.

    @Ms Littlefish
Please use your superpowers to erase this from existence, thank you very much.

What you don't want to get a mod message?! I promise it's not all bad.

Sure go ahead. I only got one in the past and because I requested for it. It's quick and painless right? I forgot what it feels like but I'm already wearing blue for the occasion.

  5. @Dalph surely I've suffered long enough now. Bless me with your invaluable feedback! I'll even record my parts of our previous poetry slams for you. <3
  6. Well, not bad... If this were the classification of a soccer league I would be saved from relegation by a little hehehe

    :MV3:

Congratulations to the winners, the truth is that the Where is Santa? is amazing, it deserves it very much! Congratulations!

I hope to see you in a next game jam, it has been a lot of fun to make the game and receive your feedback! You guys are amazing! It is nice to keep the community active in this way

Merry XMAS to all of you! :kaopride:

Trihan seeks Dalph's feedback, oh so keen,
On his Christmas game, "The Worst Noel" serene.
Custom graphics, a feast for the eyes,
Voice acting, a treat, the characters arise.

Hilarious writing, like a merry jest,
Laughs and chuckles, it's truly the best.
    Well-made minigames, a delightful delight,
They bring joy and cheer, both day and night.

    Replayability, a gift to behold,
Endless enjoyment, a tale to be told.
And oh, those blonde characters, fair and bright,
Captivating hearts, like stars in the night.

    A game well-crafted, like a holiday dream,
Trihan's creation, a masterpiece it seems.
A dance between good and naughty, so fine,
Spotting the differences, like a sweet wine.

Now the real feedback (which is super short) cuz the game doesn't really have any major issues to me.

    Spoiler
I appreciated the custom graphics, the voice acting, the hilarious writing, the well made and funny minigames (made my daughter play them and she had a lot of fun!), the replayability and of course the blonde characters.
It's a well made little game, almost 4 out of 5 overall, I had a lot of fun being good\naughty and spotting the differences between my 2 playthroughs. Good job with it.

Nope. As stated earlier, this is my first and last game jam and I consider it a waste of time. You could say that game jams... aren't my jam.

  9. Unfortunately I already used the backwards R joke on @ATT_Turan so I'll have to see how to spice it up a little bit. That's right, you're #2 for this joke, not even #1.

@Dalph Do not double post as it against the forum rules. ALL offenders will have to eat a pineapple macaroni pizza, dye their hair brown (that's right not even ginger), and the only games we can permit you in RMW jail will deliver the entire story via scrolling text.
  10. Thanks @Dalph for your detailed feedback! I've decided to just add the cup (and pancake dough) in the small window for now, as that seems the most consistent solution to that problem. :)

    @bgillisp You forgot me!

    Scrolling text you can't skip!

Well, it's totally respectable and understandable, but for me, being my first time, it has been a personal challenge to finish a game before the deadline, and I'm satisfied, could I have done better? Sure, but that won't stop me from wanting to participate in another one, if I see it feasible, I'll be there

A custom mod warning blue text specifically made for me! Thank you!

I don't mind the other things BUT...
Pineapple macaroni pizza sounds like a true nightmare, I will definitely be more careful next time.

You are welcome! It's a very good decision imho and will fix a lot of things. Again congrats, you made a very good and fun game!
  14. @AquaEcho Yes, so you keep saying...even on the first page of this thread. It's not like the comment you quoted was even directed at you :stickytongue:

If you didn't enjoy yourself, we're all sorry for you, but what's the point of repeatedly injecting it into conversation between people who did like it?
  15. Kytt was over the moon with that feedback, @Dalph, thanks! Someone said her art looked "MS painty" so she was feeling a bit insecure about it. :(

Out of curiosity, what could we have done to bring it to a 5/5? We're planning on expanding it post-jam so suggestions for improvements are entirely welcome.
  16. You know, I was a little disappointed at first, but middle-of-the-road ain't bad for my first RPG Maker game (let alone game jam) and one started a little late at that.

The judges do intend to share their extended feedback
b-but what if I don't want feedback? What if I'm fully aware of its flaws (there's a reason I uploaded to Google Drive instead of my itch account) :kaocry:
  17. Well, I haven't played all of them yet, but I can see why Where's Santa Claus got the win. I think I've already said that I enjoyed it.
I see some others I liked on the list, I expected to be near the bottom, but it still hurt to see.

For being the first time I've participated in anything like this, I did enjoy quite a bit. Clearly I need more experience in short form storytelling, since my story was maybe half the length it needed to be to actually breathe and get what I wanted done. But I enjoyed making something quick and relatively light in tone. I'll definitely ask for more feedback in the other thread. (and keep plugging away at my own)

I'ld definitely want to do this again, though I'm returning to my main project soon.
  18. Looks like many are happy to do it by request, then. I'm not posting anything until a bit later because I have a lot of little forum projects and a ~resource drop~ to finish putting some bows on. @NekoCassowary

@Trihan I'd have to look through my own notes again, but I feel like some of the interiors in particular were a bit big for what was inside them. So, kind of just condensing the boundaries around what suits the contents of the maps.
  19. A big Christmas cheer for all of y'all who participated, and huge claps to the actual winners and the player's choice peeps.

I'm only five games in out of the 30 something that were entered and so far I'm most impressed by Trid's art and @AphoticAmaranth's combat & straightforward gameplay.

Glad she enjoyed reading it. Did she just start with pixel-art?
If she did, that's actually a pretty solid work already, there's some problems with proportions here and there (some furniture is a tad bigger\smaller than how it's meant to be) and some shading is needed (some stuff looks a bit flat) but other than that, it's pretty cute.

If we wanna be fussy here, I think the interior maps should've been a bit smaller too, they are unnecessarily big.
I wouldn't say the pixel-art was MS Painty level though, I think it's not and I should know because I'm an artist too, but there is always room for improvement of course.
Make her pursue the pixel-artist way so she can get even better, and you two can be a strong team one day (programmer and artist). You guys are similar to me and my wife (my wife is the programmer though in our case).
