  1. Hi, I'm a beginner at this kind of stuff since two days ago and already I hit a wall.  To explain what this problem entails, I'll just explain what leads up to the problem:  A girl recalls an event a week ago and then the cutscene fades out and then into another map where she walks to school.  She eventually triggers and event and a character is summoned from a beam of light.

The main problem I have is that the MC will walk and stop over where the summon is supposed to trigger, but doesn't do it automatically even though I had "Event Touch" on.  The MC will stop over the trigger, but nothing will happen.  Only walking to the left a bit more and the NPC appears with the beam of light animation occurring in the wrong place.

The other problem I had at first was that I just wanted the MC to stay at the starting point and then the event jumps to a label.  Instead, I transferred the MC to the next map where the cutscene is supposed to be and then she walks automatically as intended.  I just wanted the MC to say her line in the bedroom, jump/ call to another map for the flashback, and then go back to the bedroom.

  2. Why do you have all these events? One event is moving the player, making the player trigger another event. Here is something that sound like it's going to be of much use for you: blog.rpgmakerweb.com/tips-and-tricks/events-arent-npcs/      Just have the autorun do the summoning directly.

Rereading what I wrote, sorry if I seem rude or annoyed, I really should have gone to sleep at least 5 hours ago :p
  3. Why don't you just put the whole thing into a single event?

To go back to the bedroom, put another Transfer Player at the end of the flashback cutscene.
  4. I'm sorry, I was being silly.  I finally got the cutscene I wanted to work without the beam of light, but I'd rather just move story progression along.  Thanks for your help, guys.  I read the blog post and it still didn't help me since reading it didn't allow me to visualize it, so I had to watch a video tutorial.  I feel so silly now that I realized controlling things with a main event component was so easy.
  5. A simple mistake that most newbies make :)
