Resolved/Fixed Issue

  1. I have a weird issue and I'm not really sure what to do about it because I'm not really sure what's causing it. Randomly, some event images stop showing up. The event is still there and interacts as it should, the image for it just isn't there.

I've tried moving the events and seeing if it works in other spots on the map, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Sounds like you need to put a check in the Direction Fix box of the events. That keeps the image from turning, generally due to being interacted with. If that doesn't fix it let us know.
  3. Unfortunately the screenshot of the events you showed us are not the ones that aren't showing up. Can you post screenshots of the top middle and top right events, both pages (if there are 2 pages)? Which event(s) are you interacting with?

I tried that, it didn't work :( The events don't turn so I didn't think it would. I can move all the events over, say make the portal appear 2 tiles above its current position, and it'll work, sometimes. There is no "reason" for the images not to be showing up, that I can figure out.

All the events are setup the same, they're copied and pasted versions of the original event. The two events in question, look exactly like the rest. The screenshot would show you how the event should appear, not how it actually does in game. So the Screenshot would show the event images, but once I load up the game, even if the event parameters showed the image, it still doesn't show up in the play through. The screenshot has direction fix checked, because I just tried the previous suggestion, however whether it's checked or not the result is still the same. Image doesn't show.

There is an unattached event with some dialogue that opens the portal, the bottom middle portion of the portal is the event that lets the player through and close the portal. Subsequently, the exit portal has the entire middle portion missing...
  5. Why are those events on Parallel?
That might be the reason why everything is messed up, especially if they have no content.

If they do have content that needs the parallel trigger, we need to see their full pages to help you.

Honestly, I'm not even sure how that happened... they shouldn't be. I set them back to action but that still didn't do anything.
Uploaded picture shows everything. The stars show some dialogue then activate a switch, the switch progresses the events which "opens" the portal.
  7. Are you going there on a new game or did you load a saved game?
A save game can contain older event/map data from before a change.

Saved, on that map at that. I set a spot on that map as the starting player position then started a new game and the portal appeared and worked just fine, both this one and the exit portal (which is set up having a parallel trigger, still not sure why). I'm still not sure why those events aren't showing images though. The switch that controls the portals is in that room and isn't used until the player gets there so nothing should be affecting the portal to block those images.
  9. You know, you don't have to have 6 events to show a single image. You can just create a character sheet that's 3 times the width of the image and 4 times the height, and copy it in there, whack a $ at the start of the filename, and use a single event. You will want to place an impassable tile to the right and left of the event so the player can't walk through. Then it's just one event that you need to control.
  10. Did you maybe add a new skript to your game while working on this event? I once had a similar issue when I added a new plugin that interacted with my event and solved it by deleteing the event and redo it exactly how it was before, I don't know why but it worked.

(Though you should listen to @Shaz , this way is much easyer)

So, I was confused at first to what you meant but the $ set the light bulb off in my head and made me think about large monsters. I copied the dimensions and put together a file. Works like a charm. Thanks! :)

So far as I know I'm not using anything that would affect that event but I just tried Shaz's suggestion and it worked. Thanks for trying to help :)
  12. I was also wondering about scripts/plugins, but I made the assumption that you would be using the same switch for all 6 events, so if that caused one to not work, it should cause them all to not work. Your switch number was also quite high, and would not likely be a number that'd be used by plugins as a default. It might still be worth checking if you've used that switch number in any plugin, just to make sure it's not being used for two different purposes.

Yeah I was using the same switch for all the events so what affected one should've affected all. I'm pretty sure I hadn't used the switch until that point in the game. Sadly, the second portal doesn't show up at all now. Even when I put it as a single page event with no dependencies...
  14. show us the event. This time, screenshot the FULL event window, not just a portion of it. Because usually when an event isn't doing what you think it should be doing, and you can't see any reason why, the reason is in the part that you crop out.

And this is starting a NEW game with your starting point on this map?

Can you show us a list of your plugins?

On a new game it worked fine either way, with the 6 separate events or the 1 "big" event.

When you say show the event, what exactly do you mean? I've broken it up but I've shown everything there was controlling the 6 events. I thought at least. I'm not sure what you want to see with the new event either because although it's a simple event, because I broke it down from 6 events to 1 one I had to setup another event to take some variables into consideration. Would you need to see that event too?

I'm just going to explain how the whole thing works so you can tell me what you need to see.

The original 6 event portal had 6 separate events, each with two pages (switch/door on/open, switch off/close) having the top 3 be above the player and the bottom three events be on the players level. It starts off, off/close and an unattached event with some basic show text with a control switch on command turns on the switch to open the portal door. The bottom middle event transports the player to the new map, with where the player is supposed to walk out of the exact same portal.

The new single event configuration is a bit different because that 1 event can only be in 1 state at a time, in front/same/below. I needed to add an event to monitor the players position so the game would know which state the door should be in. The top should always be above the player and the bottom should always be on the same level. The monitor is its on separate parallel event and the portal is 4 page event.

With that in mind, what would you need to see? I use a lot of plugins but I can easily take a screenshot of those.
  16. I don't see any plugins that I would suspect to interfere, but are you certain they're in the right order? They seem to be a bit scattered all over the place. Yanfly plugins need to be in a very specific order, otherwise will have issues. The order is listed on Yanfly's website. So maybe double-check those.

The other thing is, when you play, and the door isn't showing the way you expect, go into F9 and check what switches are on/off, and if they are in the state you expect them to be in. If they're not, you'll need to figure out what's changing them.

It's possible I have some order issues, I can go look and check on that. My main thing is this, I just copied the event to the left and right, both new portals work fine but the original one in the middle, the bottom ends don't show... why? Shouldn't the problem affect them all?
  18. I suggest you create a brand new project with NO plugins, and copy your map to the new project. See if it works correctly there. If it does, then it could be a plugin that's interfering.
  19. Alright, I decided to ignore the map I was working on and move on to another section of the game. Things were going fine until I started having the same problem. Events with no requirements stop showing up, the events work they just don't show. It can range from NPC sprites to door sprites, new events or old events, it doesn't really matter but some sprites stop showing up. I'm at wits end because this is pretty much game breaking for the project and I have no idea what's wrong. It's like anytime I add an event, I run the risk of another image from an event in some random place in the game disappearing.

What I don't understand is, if it is a plugin causing this, why are only select events affected? Why can I copy an event and paste it to the tile right next to it, with the exact same properties, but one event show while the other doesn't? If one event isn't going to show, shouldn't they both not show? I really think my game/MV install is bugged/glitched or something. This makes no sense to me and it's very frustrating...

    Edit:
Updated plugins list. Changed order and removed a couple of conflicting plugins. I was hoping that would solve the problem. It didn't.
  20. We cannot help you if you are going to ignore the questions we keep asking you and suggestions we make. If you try them and they don't help, at least come back to us and say what happened.
