Request for an Real-time Action Battle System, like Zelda

  1. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could make a real-time battle system like the 2D Zelda games, (especially A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds)

If you don't know anything about Zelda, the idea is that you have a sword button that you can use anytime, and an item button (multiple in some games).

You'd use the items and sword to kill on-screen enemies, and you can also destroy things with them. (bushes, grass, pottery, etc.)

Health is represented by hearts, and it'd be helpful if you added an ability to add more of them throughout the game.

It'd also be helpful if you could add free-movement, and get rid of the grid, because combat would be a lot more accurate.

    Here's some Zelda game examples:

I was also hoping the script would have a stamina meter (seen in the video above), like in A Link Between Worlds, instead of a traditional Zelda magic meter.

The more you use an item, the more stamina is drained, and you need to wait for it to refill.

If you use it all, the refill gets delayed.

I feel like that'd be more simple then having a bunch of different meters for arrows, bombs, magic, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!
  2. Please put all those videos inside a spoiler. Thank you.

on the topic of your request, there are often requests for battle systems. The response is usually that because to make such a battle system requires months of work, these are rarely done for free. When free ones are made, they tend to be the system that the scripter wants to make, rather than the system that someone else wants.

To commission one would cost over $1000 and the more extras you ask for, the more the price goes up.
  3. IG Maker is a pretty good engine for that type of game. You may want to look into that.
  4. Yep fairly straight forward to make the system. It's the graphics that takes the most time and money. That's the part that gets you.

I was actually hoping that when RMMV was released it would have ABS as well, alas it did not.

Imagine: A generous spriter making a template as well (as it can be added to the Character Generator) for an ABS system. That is the day I wait for. So essentially the day after I die with my luck.

I can do great programming! Not graphics though. They be my Kryptonite.
  5. It might take a little while but I'm sure someone will make an abs script for mv. Its inevitable.  But yeah graphics are a pain and expensive if your not a pixel artist.
