Recreate Grandia 2's Battle System with VXAce?

  1. I'm not entirely sure if this is the right category for this thread, that's why I'll apologize in advance if I'm wrong here.

    I'm new to RPG Maker/making in general and just recently bought the VX Ace.

    I already have some ideas on what I want to do with it but I feel like the VX Ace might have certain limitations that could keep me from creating what I want to create,

    which is the battle system from Grandia 2.

    Also don't get me wrong, I'm not here to ask someone to scipt me this stuff or give me hints on how to do it,

    I just want to know if the VX Ace is capable of recreating this battle system.

    For those unfamiliar with the game I'll try to quickly explain what it is like (however if you're actually interested you might want to look at a Youtube video of it).

    Basically you fought with up to 4 Characters against up to 6 Opponents, which should still be within the VX Ace's capabilities.

    However you were able to move around during the fight and your position mattered when it came to defending and attacking (to an extent at least).

    For example hitting AOE attacks were more effective when Opponents stood close together and you could intercept an opponent that was running towards one of your characters for an attack by hitting him with a different character. There were a lot of things that made the battle system very interesting in my oppinion (even though I feel like they didn't reach it's full potential).

    So ending on that, can someone tell me whether it'd be possible to recreate this with the VX Ace or not?
