Realistic Skin Tone Gradients for Generator

  1. I made a generator gradient that allows you to give characters more varied natural skin tones. It includes darker skin, and different tones of the same shade.

Attached is an example of and the gradient itself. For the example, I was using Zinx's More Realistic Haircolors, another gradient modification that I recommend. My gradient does not include Zinx's work. If you want to use both, you'll need to combine them using your favorite image editor.

  2. Niiice.  :thumbsup-left:   :)   :thumbsup-right:
  3. Thanks so much I really needed this. Wuick question tho, can these be added on with the deafult skin gradients or do they replace what's already in the default?
  4. Thank you SO MUCH for this. I was so disappointed that the base game gradients had like, four light skin tones with almost NO variation, three darker skin tones, and a bunch of random colors I'll never use. This and the realistic hair gradients are a godsend for people like me who want their generated sprite colors a little less anime.

They replace. If you want to use more gradients, you'll need to manually switch out the gradient image with a new one each time.
  6. I didn't know you could change those out, this is amazing, you are awesome!

    Ah...okay, thanks.
  8. I've no idea on how to go about combining this with the Zinx's more realistic hair.

Just open up both files in your image editor of choice. The top section (before the white band) are the hair gradients. Transfer the hair tones from Xinx's into mine and save. (Remember to make a backup!)
  10. Thank you. i managed to figure it out. I'm loving the combination of both gradients!

How did you do it, sorry im still confused on the combination. Do i have to change to the image size to add the hair gradients?

or could you post your png

Increasing the size of the image won't work. Simply copy the out the gradients you want and paste them into the same position on the new gradient sheet. The hair gradients are the ones above the white line.
  13. Oh sure. This should be the one I believe

  14. is there a way to put in the realistic skin tones and the realistic hair colors together? Like can you do that in photoshop (I am willing to do so 100%) just wondering can I put 2 and 2 together?

I just tested it with MS paint, zoomed in and just copy pasted the hair parts of the gradient to the other gradient, it worked fine. The top group is hair color, the second (after the white line) is eye color, third group is skin color and the final part is clothes color. I was able to also switch in individual rows.

Edit: Just read through the thread, someone already did this before me, oh well at least I learnt how to do something out of this.
  16. @KRS Thanks I was trying to learn it for future reference you helped out a lot the thread here was kinda vague about it so thank you very much
  17. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but whenever I replace the gradients.png file, the skins all turn one color. I don't know if I need a plugin or something but I'm just lost on what to do (I have a backup for the original). I am using the steam version, which I don't think really affects i, but it may.
