Rules - READ CAREFULLY! Updates to RMW’s Rules on Crowdfunding and Donations

Hi RMW!

We want to announce a loosening of the rules related to crowdfunding and donations. Understand that we do want to workshop further improvements to enrich the developer experience. At this time, the moderating staff has agreed this to be the safest to implement and enforce.

We want to prevent a recurrence of the events that initially led to its banning (spam, scams, and an influx of sexually explicit content), so we need everyone to understand so we can prevent any roll backs and open the doors for more.

Previously

Do NOT post links to donation and crowdfunding based websites (Kickstarter, Ko-Fi, Paypal donations, etc.), even for RPG Maker projects. Do not ask for donations on this forum.


Now

Crowdfunding and donation platforms are permitted for game projects only. Direct links to your campaign must be contained to your game thread. These campaigns must be related to your approved RPG Maker games. No exceptions.

You may not directly link campaigns anywhere else, but you may share your game thread containing these links and reference them as long as genuine updates are being made to your game thread. Making a game thread to push links will not be tolerated. It is spam.

You will need to utilize the conflict resolution procedures of these various platforms if you find yourself needing monetary recourse.

The moderation staff reserves the right to remove any links if they are found to contain any content that violates our community conduct standards.

We take spam and soliciting pretty seriously. All game threads are hand-approved, but in order to maintain this loosening and pave the way for more opportunities like this one, we ask for your assistance and sharp eyes.

If there is a direct link outside of a game thread - report.
If the linked campaign is not for an RPG Maker game project - report.
If the linked campaign contains content not suitable for a PG-13 audience - report.
