Since updating the game to MV 1.6.1, I am getting random lags when entering a new map.
Strangely, the problem resolves itself when going in and out of the menu once.

Sounds as if you got load delay, not lag - can you test if the same happens on an empty grass-only map without any bgm or anything else that needs to be loaded?

I open the exact same project, which has the most up-to-date core scripts (index, rpg_core, manager_core etc)
The game lags in 1.6.1 when I playtest it, but not in 1.3.4.
If I deploy a project which was made in 1.6.1 in 1.3.4, would there be any consequences? Do I still get the benefits of all the features upto 1.6.1?
