I couldn't come up with a shorter title than that.
Anyway, I've always been annoyed that, to listen to an .ogg file, usually downloaded from someone who submitted it to the site for use in games, or even looped by myself via Audacity, that I couldn't listen to them before adding them to an Ace project, which can be time consuming and impractical when you're just trying to look for that right theme for the scene or map.
http://www.vorbis.com/ basically has what you need to listen to an .ogg based audio file. All you need to do is click on the OS you're using, then choose the audio player you use. (For the Windows os, it's a filter that is applied to all DirectShow-based players.)
Anyway, I thought this was useful.
Program to listen to .ogg files outside of RPG Maker.

You, sir, deserve a medal for this. Thank you.

I use Splayer to listen to my .ogg files, Splayer plays any audio format.
-
I use VLC to play the .ogg sound files... I don't even need to download any extra codec or filters. And since I also use it for playing video files, it's a nice thing to have

I use Winamp to listen to my OGG files. It also plays the usual assortment of sound and video files so it's a pretty versatile player.

Why am I hearing of these things just now? Someone should compile a list of programs and things that allow people to do this.
-
Audacity also lets you play .ogg files.
-
Yeah, but it usually takes a while to load.

My music player is foobar2000.
AFAIK, most of player out there can play ogg -
The first time, yes. What I do is load Audacity the first time and wait, then never close out that load. The next file, it opens a 2nd audacity for me, and it does that nearly instantly. Just as long as you leave one open it seems to load nearly instantly.Yeah, but it usually takes a while to load.

But part of the point is that you have to open Audacity in the first place, whereas just being able to click straight on the file has to be quicker. It's also quicker to navigate to different folders in the normal way instead of from within Audacity, simply because you have the full screen and can see long lists etc. etc. etc. Lots of reasons why just being able to click, in the same way as you can if it's an MP3 file, is a useful thing.

Why would anyone need anything else than VLC player?
-
Eeeeyup yup!!
VLC media is the way to go, my friend! :) -
I use winamp for OGG files.

I had mentioned this somewhere else, but the only program I use for listening to OGGs after being looped (for listening to audio skipping errors due to bad looping or just for leisure) is XMPlay since it has a built-in OGG decoder that detects loop points in the meta-data for OGG files (the data that Ace looks for) and loops them (or doesn't) if you want. It's small, it's fast and it's perfect.
Also can use Winamp plugins easily.
