  1. @KayZaman I wish I had more for you then...
Eh... I like the first one better.

  2. @Wonderfull Darkness It really is amazing how much you can do with 30 seconds, isn't it? I think I can understand why you like the first version better- the sounds are a bit more distinct, though the remade version flows a bit better.

@callmedan Beautiful guitar~ Same with that flute. I do have a question. Did you pan the instruments any way in particular? It might be me or my headphones, but things feel a bit panned the the left. It's very melancholy in its beauty, particularly with that music box towards the second half of the song. In any case, it's a lovely piece of work.

Two new pieces for now! ...Well, one and a half, because I need to go back to the drawing board on the second one for the fourth time. XD

This was a commissioned song I did for a client last week. She wanted a tribute to her grandmother, who enjoyed country music and birds. I'm fond of how this came out (though I swear all of my guitar + piano songs tend to be easy on the ears). I joked to myself that the bird was rapping during the solos, but that might be a bit much, haha.

This one is driving me up the wall. This was supposed to be a theme for an android/artificial human character with a cool personality. I finally got the feel right after 3 tries, but I think I need to do it again so that I can get the overall song right. Next time, I'll probably add some real drums in and give it more of a collected melody (the spacey ambience is nice, but it's also what makes the song feel a bit off to me). What do you all think? Or, alternately... what would you do to "fix" this song?
  3. @Wonderfull Darkness That's amazing. I also prefer the first version.
@Sami-Fire64 Thank you! :D It's actually a harp and an ocarina but close enough right XD Yeah, the song panned to the left because that makes it sound clearer :p For your Gloria, I expected you would use sort of nature ambience with the bird sounds, but yeah, that makes it unique. And for your New Generation, maybe you should try adding some 8-bit drums and lower the volume of other sounds when the distorted synth playing because they're a bit loud in my opinion.
  4. Oooooh a music thread!
I was just exploring the forums until I managed to find this. I'll share a couple of things I've made as my participation.
One thing I noticed is that I like to make a lot of loops. I apologize if that's not your style.

    -Stars-

    -Traveler-

Of course, there are others on my Soundcloud that you are more than welcome to listen to. I have plenty more tunes stored on my computer. Hopefully I'll eventually put more progress and start putting those onto my Soundcloud as well.
  5. I'm still relatively new to composing music so I don't have a lot to share yet. But here are two pieces I wrote for a story/game of mine. I'd like to know your thoughts - what comes to mind when listening, what you like/dislike etc.

  6. @Krossingfate Stars is really pretty! That low instrument kind of buzzes in my ears a little at the beginning, though I'm starting to think that that's my headphones' fault at this point. Traveler kind of blew my mind from the get-go, and then the beat dropped and it was like "ohhhhh yesss." Few things are as satisfying as a good beat drop, I think.

@Elentari You're new to composing, you say? That still beats the pants off my stuff from when I was starting out! XD I really love the backing instruments and island-esque feel/beat to The Spirit of Adventure; however, I feel like the main flute is a touch too loud. If you lowered it just a little, it might make things a bit easier to listen to (not that it's hard to listen to at all, mind you!). The World of Magicka in general is very nice; definitely gives a "fantasy university town" feel to me. I can't really think of a good angle to critique it from, aside from maybe lowering the main instrument just a little bit. (Also, I'm starting to think that a lot of these volume issues are because of my headphones, so take that with a grain of salt.)

On my end, I finished my first symphonic rock song! ...Sort of. I really liked it when I finished it, but then as time went on it made me really mad because I feel like it's empty/weak and disjointed. :/ Thoughts?

I have a few more tracks in progress; I might come back and edit those in later.
  7. So much good stuff here!

@callmedan I loved everything about that tune, the name too. Such a dreamy vibe!!!

@Sami-Fire64 Gloria made me smile so much, I love birds too and that was unexpected and cute! Nike's Theme... I can't believe that's the same music I heard in your status post. :p I re-listened to it on your profile to make sure it was the same LOL Don't know what happened, this time it didn't sound too fast, just sweet and merry. My brain must've been on off before. And I love that metal-sounding intro :D:rock-right: It's a great light-hearted rpg track.

@Wonderfull Darkness Both versions of 27 are great. Love hearing 8-bit compositions that sounds this good!

@Krossingfate Stars was great and my favourite of the two. Both musics made me think of sci-fi. Traveller even had a battle feel for sci-fi settings.

@Elentari The Spirit of Adventure reminded me of Final Fantasy style of composition (with the instrument versatility) and the melody too. I agree with Sami-Fire64 that the flute is maybe a little too loud. But overall very nice. If you didn't say you were new at composing, I wouldn't have guessed :p World of Magicka Original was excellent, it makes me think of Italy or a bit of France. It sounds like a town music in a game where lots of places are to be discovered, a busy village. It could also fit in my opinion as a character's theme music, a character that is fun, light-hearted and who enjoys everything...

But congrats to everyone. It was delightful for the ears ^.^ b
  8. @Sami-Fire64 @starlight dream
Thanks for the feedback! Also, I do think that I chose an odd Key in Stars that may have also caused the buzzing you may have experienced. Sorry.

I enjoyed Nike's Theme! It's not often you hear symphonic rock, but I can already visualize it as battle music. It's nice, simple and sweet.
  9. @Sami-Fire64

Thank you :)! "Fantasy university town" is actually very close to the idea which the theme is based on and its original/alternate name that I felt was a bit too direct and lengthy; "Another day studying magic".

As for the track you've posted, I think most importantly it needs a bassline to give those guitars an extra thick punchy layer and make the music sound fuller/bigger as well. My second recommendation would be reworking the drumbeat to be simpler/more in-line with the rhythm guitars - maybe it'll feel less disjointed that way (if that's what you meant)

    @starlight dream

Thanks for checking out :). Spirit of Adv. (at least the instruments) was partially inspired by the celebration theme at the end of Return of the Jedi before credits roll but I am a long-term lover of FF's music too, so it'd certainly leave a mark on me one way or another!

The intention of Magicka was that it's an introduction to where a character is living at, and viewing that lifestyle through their eyes so I could see it working as a character theme as well ^^
  10. Just finished this one :kaophew:
  11. @NoahB
Oooh I love that jazz feel to it! I always liked those types of chord progressions and the like.
I can't help but think of this as a challenge from someone at a club or perhaps a rival???
Either way, I would most certainly like to hear this on a game in the future.
  12. @NoahB It's a nice piece. The piano is a bit loud in my opinion.

Another version of a track I posted awhile ago, I replaced all instruments with the celeste and I also added atmosphere to it.
  13. Hi folks. After a while, I've actually done something. This was a challenge: 'write a theme for a haunted house'. I decided to go all out and did some crazy stuff. Hope you like it!

  14. Well I've finally started my rpg soundtrack as Kit Carruthers.

    Here's "Ice Cave."

  15. Started working on a new youtube channel, mostly doing pokemon US/UM stuff.

Check out the channel and subscribe if you want! Also contact me for any projects you need composers for.

    Thank you!
  16. Here's a new one that I had a lot of fun making. Was messing with this tune I had in my head and just developed it way more, here's the result and I hope you guys check it out. Let me know what you think of it if you do!
