  1. I don't know if this is copyright infringement in ANY way, but I want to re-use the original Final Fantasy map as a world map for my project. But seeing as I don't have the paitence/skill to do a full scale replica.

If it's possible/legal with the right notifications, I would really appreciate the effort. You can just do the outline and I'll fill in the deserts, decor, etc. later.

Also, I am not planning on selling my game in any way if that helps with the legality issue.

    Thanks in advance.

    For refrence.
  2. If SE ever where to know about this they would be flattered, then give you a cease and desist order. I don't think it will be a big problem if you reuse a map as long as you add in your own creative twist. Or you may get flammed for ripped content, and hunted down forever for making a fan game. But this does seem like an interesting challenge.

Well obviously it's not gunna be a copy/paste of the game; more of a "sequel"........okay a fan-made sequel, but I will obviously change things around so that they coincide with the story I'm telling.

And again, I'm not planning on making money off this so I'm more than okay stopping at any point is all.
  4. Want to do something for me? Figure out how large a single tile would be (pixel-wise) on that map. Then, report back here. I have been remaking world maps for my Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 remake, so I may be interested in remaking that map once I get my demo out and have some free time. If you can figure out how large the tiles in that image are, I can then figure out how large the map needs to be and then start placing tiles.

Ok, I'll check and then put an edit on this post.

EDIT: 1 tile = 8 x 8 pixel square. Obviously, some of the penninsulas and area borders are curved, so if it's all the same then just round them out to one tile, or do whatever would feel comfortable in making it.
  6. So if you're able to do it hyde, when do you expect to have it done...?
  7. Oh, not for a while if I do take this. Like i said, I would be waiting to even start until I get my demo out. If you really need this quick, you may want to find someone else for now.

EDIT: And if I did this, I would be adding a grid over the entire map to find tiles, so that is why I asked the tile size.
  8. Ah, that's fine. I'll keep the topic bumped every so often to see if anyone else may be interested.

BTW, that grid idea really sounds neat. I may even attempt it myself.
  9. Trust me, just add your grid over the image and watch how easy it will be to remake. After you have the grid, it is just a matter of counting, and placing.
  10. I decided to do a memory copy/paste by checking over the original and just doing it by "hand". Inefficent, I know but it was: quick, fun, has my own flare to it, makes it similar without being an exact carbon copy (which is kinda the idea of the entire game) and it looks damn accurate if I do say so myself.

If you wanna see it so far, just ask and tell me how to import images from my comp memory :p
