plugin for rotating psychedelic battleback?

I think this should be an easy one, with a very cool result: A plugin that makes the battleback image continuously rotate 360º throughout battle. It may require a [larger than the frame] square image, I'd imagine, so as to not have nothing shown on the sides when it's at 90º.
The purpose of this plugin request is to have a spiral image rotating in the background, creating a psychedelic atmosphere.

The desired plugin would be part of a major update to the published game Nepenthe, with full credit given as requested. Other than that, you can use/distribute the plugin as you wish.
