Perm-black screen after intro cutscene. Help?

I am setting up my string of opening cutscenes, the first one is the one I am having trouble with. After the cutscene finishes, the screen does not return to to show the character in the room, just cold cold darknesssss. I can open the menu and see the main character I have set. I've read tutorials, but I can only get so much out of them. The answer is probably super obvious but I seem to be missing it. Help?

Your very first command is tint screen.

You never reset it ;)

(and yes, this is the right place to ask this sort of question)

Another tint screen commands, but leave the values as default.
