Hey guys, I have a question, so if I play some games I like, how do I give them votes for People's Choice? The main page says that voting should be open but clicking on someone's Like+1 button on the submission page it doesn't actually do anything and neither does sorting by votes.
Is there some other catch to voting for people?
Thanks a lot

I noticed that also. I think the voting doesn't actually start till the 2nd, so maybe they just didn't turn the 'like' button on yet. If that is not the case, then I have no idea.
-
IS that like button going to be the way people vote? Is it going to be a poll on the site? How does this actually work? I'm confused as hell!
-
So, I'm not the only person wondering this then.
-
I've looked on every page (not every SUBMISSION page, although I did check out a fair few of those as well), both logged in, logged out, and on my wife's computer as well. I cannot find anywhere to vote, to place a vote, or any "Like+1" button that actually raises the count. I have also looked around (cursory glance, not even really sure what sub-forum it'd be under) on THIS site, and also have found nothing.
Now, full disclaimer-I SUCK at interneting. I'm like, the worst. Hell, I can't even take a damn SELFIE without help. I'm pathetic, I really am. BUT, I figured that my sleuth skills on this are pretty decent, maybe.
Just letting everyone know, and if the mods/Powers That Be are reading this (I hope so!), you might think about adjusting the People's Choice voting period, since there seems to be no way to actually VOTE! :D -
I always assumed it was the blue "like" button -- because facebook/tweets are always active, and voting isn't supposed to start until today. So I think they just need to "turn on" the light blue button. Or maybe they're going to add a new "vote" button somewhere?

It's working now, only for registered users though, so it seems that the community will decide :)

Well, this prize is going to the most active user within the RM Community then. :p

Usually those 2 go hand in hand... ^^;Most popular*

Not always. I feel I've a shot at it, and I am not the most active, and I KNOW I'm not the most popular (probably the exact opposite)! But I will ask for your votes anyway! To quote Pedro: Vote for me, and all your dreams will come true.

Thanks kindly in advance! -
Is anyone else slightly concerned with the fact that the 2 games with the most votes by far are pretty low in quality? The amount of votes versus the comments and Facebook likes makes it seem like foul play. And one of them seems to have been started before the contest deadline.
Would've been better of the hosts to do a sweep of the games before starting People's Choice voting... Ah well. ^^;
Good luck in the contest, Xenos!! -
I noticed that too. :( I really hope they check this stuff. Also, having "most popular" in the sidebar is a self-fulfilling prophecy. With no way to downvote, games that are there will ONLY rise in votes (or possibly stay the same). This has been a problem with internet voting systems since the beginning, and I can't believe it still happens. Is anyone else slightly concerned with the fact that the 2 games with the most votes by far are pretty low in quality? Oh, and if you want to vote for my game: http://contest.rpgmakerweb.com/game/view/id/558 :) -
Yeah, it really is a self-fulfilling prophecy... Voted for your game by the way. :) Just by the game description and your little headers I can tell more work has been put into that than the current top 3, haha.
-
If I was making my own voting system, all votes would be anonymous (unless people revealed themselves as the voter), there would be no vote counter, and all games that appeared around the website 'to try' would be random. There would also not be a top 'X' list until the last minute.

Am I the only one who notices that the site keeps going down? Almost like it's being hammered with a script.
-
I think the site is either being hammered with a script, intentionally DDOSed, or unintentionally DDOSed.

Thank you so much! I'm going to make a video today so people can see a bit of it without downloading. I put a TON of work into it (I basically did nothing else the whole month), and recorded a lot of the process, so I hope that'll be interesting to people.Voted for your game by the way. :) Just by the game description and your little headers I can tell more work has been put into that than the current top 3, haha.

On top of that, my partner noticed he could vote without confirming his e-mail address.Am I the only one who notices that the site keeps going down? Almost like it's being hammered with a script.
I'd love that! Please post it in the comments of your game when you upload it. :) I love to see the process of game design. I wish I had recorded mine but it mostly consisted of stressing out, drinking coffee and hour long Skype calls with my partner.Thank you so much! I too noticed the top few games A) have low quality, and 2) have jumped to over 100 votes in less than three hours, yet have virtually no facebook likes, no tweets, etc.
Seems... Well, off.
It is not a stretch to think that someone is running some sort of vote bot on the site, because damn, it crashes all the time. Plus, let's face it, if you can make/modify a game engine, it's probable that you can make a votebot.
Me? I'm doing the old fashioned way-calling in favors from friends and family, and sharing the CRAP out of it!
