  1. PATH OF A SAMURAI

We've reached a milestone on the design and direction of the project. Aside from moving away from the original game title, we've gone ahead and made some major changes to game play and art style..

We've changed the direction of the project to the point that many of the historical comments in this thread are mostly redundant.

However, (with the blessing of the forum admins *I hope*!) There will be one last post, to let people know where to find the new project..

I hope you like what you see and return when we launch the next iteration of the game thread. (We're planning on a kickstarter to coincide with a trailer + demo )

Thanks for all your support in reaching this milestone in development, it's been a blast and we'll see you soon!

  2. Looks amazing!! My only nitpick is that everything seems a bit small. The maps are so zoomed out that the characters get lost and the font size is really tiny too.
  3. It looks awesome!
The GUI and artwork design seems very professional too.
However, I do agree with @Rhino regarding everything looks kinda small.
Maybe you should make some alterations to the size.

    I'm gonna watch this game.
    Good luck for you! :D

We will be scaling the text! - but not the characters, they are displaying as intended.

Did you try clicking on the screenshots? They should increase in size when you do and you'll get a more accurate idea of what it will look like on your monitors.
Let me know your thoughts when you do that, appreciate all feedback,
  5. Looks amazing. I think the size of the battlers are fine but in map they look rather small.
Can't wait to try it tho! Good luck on the project.
  6. I've tried looking at them in full screen mode, but I think I'm standing by my point. For the maps, all of the action is happening in the bottom 1/4 of the screen, so I'm having to constantly look down which I think would get uncomfortable after a while.

The battlers you might get away with. I think even MV's default chibi SV battlers are dwarfed by the environment so it's not the worst thing. If they're static images it should be fine, but if they're animated you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice disguising the details where they're too small to really be appreciated. Generally I think with a wider view, it's also easier to feel 'zoomed out' of the action. It doesn't look quite as intense and engaging as it should be.

There is a conflict of interest though as your backgrounds are gorgeous and I can see why you wouldn't want to be cropping those. Maybe a compromise of using a camera plugin so you can have both wide shots and focused scenes would work?
  7. @Rhino

Let me finish a few more scenes and then send you a demo. Want to get your feedback beyond screenshots.

The battlers are a good size I feel (if you imagine 4 at that size then they won’t fit on the screen!), also when you compare with holders battlers for example, ours are waaay bigger, bigger than I’ve personally seen anyone else do before in rpgm. However we did originally intend for them to be larger but the database would crash because the sheets are huge. We’re at max size right now.

Things might look small because this is a 1920x1080 screen res.

    Characters are in 48x96 frames.
I actually quite like it and in game it looks right to me, so I’m wanting to send a demo to get your “in game feedback” that cool?

Camera zoom plugin, yep we will be using that in the demo when it comes out :)
  8. Added a new title screen. Thoughts and feedback?
  9. Are you taking pointers from Shigurui at all? The Title Screen reminded me of one of the main characters from it.

    @Jayje
No, various movies, games but not shigurui...
Haven’t seen - is it good?

Don’t forget to follow the thread.
  11. This looks amazing.
  12. Looks great ! I'm looking forward to play a demo, it's not look like another rpg maker game.

I want to see the "making of" of your game

If you don't mind me asking, how did you find the artists to build your team and how many are you ?

    Hi Thomas,

To answer your question - 'Path Of A Samurai' has not yet received an age rating.

Yes - It will contain some graphic scenes, images which will be omitted from the EPF thread here.

  18. I love the battle theme with the hip hop beat, it's remind me the OST of samurai champloo.

Beautiful music :thumbsup-left: and the art is really cool.
  19. I CANNOT WAIT TO PLAY THIS? Like, it looks so good and the music is amazing.
