Party in battle

So Im trying to make a battle in the close beginning for a tutorial in the battle. But when i do that the party is just full of my guy and 3 fighters that dont have anything, they are just there. How do i remove those empty party slots.

EDIT I just realised you posted in RMXP.
The answer below is for RMVXA and RMMV, it should be similiar in RMXP but I don't know the exact structure of the database in XP

by removing the actors from the "starting party" setting in your database system tab.

Deleting an actor in the actor slot will NOT remove it from the starting party, only the removal from that field in the system tab will do that (and then you can keep the actor data)
