Parallax mapping - light?

  1. So I'm sorta running into a problem with parallax mapping, how can I make light fall from like a window? Is there any gimp/photosthop tutorial for that? I'd like the light of the window to reflect on the floor.
  2. What script are you using? You can put it in some kind of overlay layer.
  3. If you're asking on how to do light and shadows in an image program - that is basically an artists skill that takes a lot of practice, and I'm not an artist. But I can give an example where the artist made a video of how he works (not a tutorial video unfortunately, and it was speeded up so it's almost impossible to identify the tools used).

Below the picture is a link to that video, including showing how the shadow of the ship was done and how the wave-pattern light on the bottom of the sea (on the rocks) was done: http://batkya.deviantart.com/art/Above-and-below-341670096?hf=1

That said, it might be easier to do if you use Yami's parallax script instead of a simple parallax lock script - yami's script (sorry, I don't have the link) adds a light-layer and a shadow-layer to the regular top and bottom parallaxes, allowing you to place those effects in different pictures. That might make things simpler for you.

I've known about Yami's script and I've been using it. The thing is, I can't create a light layer as I don't know how to make the light fall properly.

I can create a shadow just fine, but I just don't know how to create a nice looking windowlight, like the sun 'beams' through the window, on the floor and the surrounding stuff.
  5. That's mine. I just draw the shape of the window, completely white, stretch it out a bit (depending on the position of the sun), then put this layer on 'soft light' in Photoshop, so that it gives the illusion of light shining onto the map.
