Opening the site through IG Maker produces errors

  1. I usually use IG Maker to access the official forums of IG Maker (a very handy feature! I wish all the software had it like that). I'm not sure what browser gets embedded within IG Maker but it constantly throws some errors like this one:

Worst part is, there are some parts of the forum that, when clicked, result in getting endlessly stuck in a loop of reporting the same error over and over again and I can't exit the error dialogue (as soon as I close it, it reappears) so I have to kill IG Maker through Task Manager. For example, the element circled in red must not be clicked:

If it matters, I tried opening the site in Chrome (my default browser), Internet Explorer 32 and 64 bit and it works there (still have the default option of supressing errors turned on).
  2. Okay I'm gonna be the douchebag and give you the easy solution: don't browse the forums in IGMaker.
  3. Are you too lazy to type "forums.rpgmakerweb.com"?
  4. I'm guessing IG Maker uses Internet Explorer's trident engine to render the pages. Ew, IE.

Edit: But yeah, I'd have to +1 needles' suggestion.
  5. Well yes, that was douchebagy, needless… and useless :)

But seriously, it's so practical to access this site through IG Maker: keeps things contained, it's always handy (so I don't even have to have a browser in the taskbar)… lots of small things, it just feels right. If you used any of the other software that has similarly integrated their site / chat channel etc (Photoshop, Stencyl, GLBasic etc) you'll know how handy it can be.

I also think IG Maker uses IE since it is the only browser in the world that I know of that forces ClearType (or whatever it's called) on its users, and all the sites have CT turned on when seen through IG Maker. Weird that IE itself doesn't get caught in an error loop then.
  6. It's also important to note that you get those errors anytime you start IG Maker whether you intend to browse the site or not. At least that's what happens to me. If you open/close IGM a lot over the course of a day (like I do) it can be annoying. Certainly not a big problem, but I can't imagine it's a hard thing to fix.
  7. Why don't you use a real browser? I know it was stated above, but I wanted to clarify a good reason to do so. It is a huge task to keep a browser up-to-date with the web standard, and IGMaker shouldn't even have that feature in it. It is a clutter mechanism that takes away from the real engine - budget being wasted on programming it/etc. So, better to just not use it in my opinion. :p
  8. @ROMNEY: Douchebaggery is generally frowned upon.

Helladen has a very good point however; it's probably best to simply not use the feature. A one off browser is a bad idea for many reasons, best to stick to browsers that are actively maintained and widely used. Making changes to this website in order to conform to that browser is impractical, so I'm just going to close this.
