  1. My apologies if this question has been asked before I searched around the forum a bit to see if I could find anything. I might have missed something, anyways I'm interested in buying the old school modern tile sets. The only thing. Stopping me is that it says for vx ace, I do not have vx ace also I planned to edit the resource back to work in xp(the engine I would be using. So on to my question, would there be any legal issues in using these resource packs made for vx ace in xp? The game will be Non commercial. Also if there s any legal issues is there a. Special license I have to purchase or is this specifically for vx ace, again sorry if this was asked already, and thanks in advance for taking the time to read and or respond : )
  2. I'm not an admin or lawyer, but I would imagine there are no legal issues with using the purchased Resource Packs in a purchased copy of RPG Maker XP.

However, I think the tileset formats are completely different between XP and VX, so you probably would have a hard time using them in XP.

VX Ace has a concept called "autotiles" which are some of the A tilesets.   I think XP has layers of non-automapping tiles instead.

So I don't know how useful you'd find them in RPG Maker XP.
  3. I use the DS packs (also made primarily for Ace) in XP so it is possible, but you will have to edit the tilesets and the autotiles (which are not that hard most of the time).

@whitesphere: XP also has autotiles, you know. They just work differently (and they're bigger so you're not stuck with square tiles like VX(Ace) RTP).
  4. Wow thanks for the quick response, also

Hehe I'm aware of the differences of vx ace/rmxp mapping already planned to modify tiles as needed(sorry if that sounded rude no impoliteness intended ) just needed to know of any legal issues, thank you very much for the response : D
  5. When it says for VX Ace, it means the tileset is rearranged into that format that is compatible with VX Ace (and should also be compatible with VX). It has no bearing on which RPG Maker you can use it in. You can use it in ANY RPG Maker product (also IG).

It means that if you want to use it for XP, you have to rearrange the tileset yourself, since XP uses a different format than VX Ace.
  6. Ahh, yeah I had read that the products in store could be used for any rpg maker or ig maker even but when I went to buy the pack it said for vx ace. sorry I guess a bit of a misunderstanding, Thanks for clarifying though. : )
