  1. I have Ig maker and RPg maker XP, I wanna make an rpg where I can do the legend of zelda style gameplay and jump! not sure how you even command it or whatnot. As I read that the programs connect, but Im such a newb I cant find all the hows also can The rpg maker Ace do all that as well?? I know the witches house game you can run. But thats about it,

also lost as to where I can find a guide on sizing custom sprites for the games, as I want to make some really "themed out" games stressing visual cues over text.
  2. There is the Arc engine  for Ace, an most likely a bunch of scripts for XP as well. I'm not familiar with IGmaker at all.

It could probably be possible to force the programs to connect, but it seems unlikely that the instructions on how to do that can be found anywhere.

Custom sprites are very easy, just align the sprites in the correct format (4x4 in XP, 3x4 in VX) and the actual size doesn't matter.
  3. What do you mean "the programs connect"?
  4. Well I read somewhere on here you could use functions from RPG XP with ig maker wasnt sure if that was vice versa.

And also does that hold true for tilesets as well??
  5. Tilesets don't work the same way as spritesets. in XP each tile is 32x32 pixels and the tilesheet has to be 8 tiles  or (32x8) 256 pixels wide, but it can be as tall as you want, as long as you keep the tiles the right size.
  6. IGM and the RM's are not compatible, and you can't simply use resources from one in the other.

Some resources might be adapted with GIMP or Photoshop, but in most cases that would be too much work...
  7. then was it programming functions that link or what? Hmm i woulda bought Ace If id known that.

I guess im off to hunt stealth game tutorials now then XD

so wait,4x4 as in they gotta be a square in numbers that fit into 4?  and the xp tiles arent 32 x 32?
  9. No.

XP sprites have 4 columns and 4 rows - a total of 16 images per character.

VX and Ace sprites have 3 columns and 4 rows - a total of 12 images per character.

I'd like to know where you saw the claim that IG Maker uses XP Functions or vice versa. Either you've misunderstood, or the person who made the claim didn't really know what they were talking about.

You MAY be able to use some resources from one in the other, but they MAY require a bit of reformatting.
  10. It was somthing to the effect you could bring XP elements, like the scripts or somthing programm wise into the Ig maker. to enrich Ig And Id say I saw it on here.

but ok so size doesnt matter as long as its some preportion? There an official FAQ on all things image importing specifications and content. Cause I really hate useing a forum for soo long
  11. I'm pretty sure the only thing you would be able to bring across would be the resources - images and audio.

I'm sure IG Maker would have a help file that explains all the details of the resource specifications. Have you looked at it?
  12. Well I went over the Basics, of both, So then plotted out a game idea for one , Working on it. left IG maker on the backburner. Sounds like Ace is where its At with the sheer power of the user engines. As of late Im just makeing the custom basic sprites along with bases for them in all standard body types. I wanna Keep it simple make a couple basic games Before I go nuts with some "Epic" Project, make fun basic but replayable games like the classics of arcade. but put a twist that allows different ways for all kinds of users to play that same game.
