  1. Hello,

It's my first time posting here on the forums and - like many posters - I've got some questions about RPG Maker VX Ace!

I've been working on going through tutorials and slowly building up my skillset of things I can do with the editors.  Been making custom battlers and sprites (because, you know, I'm an artist).  But I've finally got to the portion of my learning where I want to start editing the battle engine.

Thread recommended the Yanfly Battle Engine and while there are things I like about it, there are also things that I really want to change.

I'm just to to lay out the list of things I want to change and then you all can give me some feedback or point me in the right direction. :)

So, given the Yanfly Battle System, I'd like to...

    1)  Remove the character portraits from the battle bar at the bottom.  The original 'menu' system worked fine for me and for my projects I want to avoid using character portraits as much as possible.

    2)  Remove the annoying state popups.  I'm kind of annoyed of how when I kill an enemy in the Yanfly Battle Engine it does this annoying 'Death' state popup.  It's like the game is saying "Just to be clear, when that enemy vanished after you hit it really hard?  It was because it dead."  Gee, thanks.  >.<

I'd like to be able to remove those annoying state popups.

Those are my two big issues for now.  I'm hoping to use some of Yanfly's Visual Battlers (which makes the combat more 'final fantasy' style from what I hear), so I'm sure I'll have questions with that.

    Cheers,

    ~JOE
  2. 1) That should be pretty complicated and you'd have to alter the script quite a bit.

    2) Pretty easy, there is a notetag for this. Just read the script instructions.
  3. Alright.

I'd been throught he script a few times looking over the options but I guess I must've just passed over it with all the techno-babble in there.  >.<
  4. For 1 just use the sprites as facesets instead. Youd have to get an editing program like GIMP to make it work though.
  5. Oooh!  That could work!

I'm working on a 'retro' style RPG where I'm doing a lot of custom '16-bit' style graphics.  I kind of don't want to use the 'faces' they have in RPG-Maker, and just swapping them out it something I hadn't considered...

Then again...  I kind of want some representation of the characters in the menus... yet if I use both 'little' sprites for the faces AND battler/walking sprites then... it might seem redundant.

Mmmh.  Anyways, your suggestion of changing the face graphics is great! :)
  6. Or perhaps it might be easier to switch to a different battlescript - as said above, the faces are complicated to remove, and that is because they are one of the main features for that engine.

Perhaps you should state what you want your battles to do, then we can point you to alternatives.
  7. I've moved this thread to RGSSx Script Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

Please include links to the script(s) you are using, to make it easy for others to find them.
