  1. Hi,

This is probably a really silly question however I am very new to all of this. I bought RPG Maker MV about a week ago and have become addicted! I have been using my own maps made in photoshop and have followed a range of tutorials. My main issue is I'm having trouble with adding items to my character inventory.

Basically I want to make a monkey island style game (eg where adding X item to Y item gives you a unique item to use).... Can anyone point me in the right direction with this either if you can help or if you know of any tutorial videos etc?

It would be greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks

    Emma

    A few options of plugins
Item Synthesis (YEP) - Yanfly.moe Wiki ..or...

    Without plugins:
Using common event(s) in the items properties.
...I could make you a demo.
  3. Hi that would be great thank you :)

My game is a murder mystery so I really need to be able to do this with the items....

Trying to find tutorials on it now....

Did you look into either of the plugins I mentioned above?
...I'm sure yanfly's would do the trick most likely.

This is proving to be quite a tricky process without the use of them.
  5. Yes I just downloaded the first one so will take a look at some of the tutorials for it.

Its things like getting the main character to 'give' an item to a NPC that sort of thing too - will this plugin work for that too do you think?
  6. I love the adventure type of games like monkey island, a flight of the amazon queen and Titanic adventure out of time. They are all more of a point and click game so Im hoping I can do the same with the game I have planned out....

Ok cool cool, fingers crossed for ya. I'm still working on a non plugin version too ;)
Let me know how it goes.

Hmm.. not sure but you could follow this tutorial for that...
Give Item to Event (Gift Giving System!)
    PS.
Pretty please try not to double post.
(Posting one after another before someone else responds instead of editing the original.
...It just kind of muks up posts and looks bad)
No biggy since you're new but it is a bit frowned on here in this community.
  8. Oh right I had no idea sorry - why is it frowned upon?

Great thanks for your help so much with this and I will take a look at your example too :) I feel like Ive learn't so much but still have a lot left to do....

What sort of games do you create? :)

I guess it's frowned upon cuz it increases post count without adding a real extra post and kind of makes the threads longer... not entirely sure but seen many ppl warned about it. ;)

Oh no prob. I'll let ya know of the progress with the non-plugin version soon ;)

Mostly just a plugin dev. these days really and help others.
But I like standard RPGS and platformers best.
Have a few constant WIP games like a monster capture game and mario-esk clone... but I fear they may never see the light of day lmao

    EDIT:
    @EXross
I've done it! No clue if it's really how you need it exactly but with NO Plugins used I've created a demo showing how to do such a thing :)
Download demo to see how it works.
