Need Help with adding custom font.

just changing the font source in gamefont.css is not working, it displays a endless "loading" screen when I try to run it.

Did you put the font file in the folder ?

The earthbound font, apple_kid

Tried using that font myself and ran into the same problem. Since my other fonts work just fine, I assume that something is wrong with the apple_kid font that causes it to be not supported by MV.
