    the reason the have to be free is i cant aforde to spend money to buy them

    You should check out Granny's lists and see if she has any freeware ones. That's all I can think of, as in order to get someone to make you some sprites you will probably have to pay for them.

    Grannie's lists are always the best place to start when looking for something. Just be aware that not all the tiles are going to be available for commercial use. You're going to have a tough time though, free scifi sprites and tiles are a bit on the rare side.

    It might help if you provide more information on what you define as 'space pirate', and what you define as 'sci fi'. As far as this goes, it's quite possible to form an image of a cyberspace digital pirates going around and pirating the spaces from everything typed.

    Why not save $50 bucks to get the Futuristic tileset pack and the Sci-Fi battle pack? For sprites I like the Frontierworks pack. Not a lot of sprites and tiles that can be used commercial. And think of it as an investment: You put a little money, make sure it's well polished, and at the least you'll be able to break even.
