  1. First of all, is there a way to add in audio files of me reading the dialogue to make it more interesting? I haven't learned all the event stuff yet, I just wanna know in advance.

On the same tone, is there any way to extend or "freeze" my 30 day free member ship while I wait for the tutorials to finish? I don't wanna buy it without knowing all that it can do, and being able to control cut scenes is a HUGE selling point for me.
  2. You can insert sound effects right before text messages which could be voiced dialog, which would play as the message appears.

There's no stopping your trial once it begins, the 30 days pass whether you're using the program or not. It should be plenty of time to figure out the basics and understand how the program works.
  3. If you want something done, then you can do it, even if it relies on scripting.

There is honestly (almost) nothing you can't do if you want to, and creating nice cut scenes is definitely something the maker is capable of.
  4. Well then, I'm pretty sure I'm gunna buy it but if all of your opinions, do you think the 100$ price is REALLY worth it. So far I think so but I might be letting the excitement of getting a new toy overwhelm my judgement.
  5. Isn't it 90$ now ._.?

Anyways, 90$ is like 1 1/2 - 2 normal games (depends on the platform), so just think of how many hours of enjoyment you could get of the maker if you would simply view it as a game you spend your time with.

Since the maker is so much more than just a game tho, yes the price is high, but surely worth it, no doubt about that.
  6. $90, unless you're outside the US and the exchange rate means you pay more. You might want to check out the Member+ program - don't remember where I read it, but I thought someone did the maths and said you can get a 3 month subscription to Member+, which gives you a discount on the maker, and the discounted price and Member+ subscription price together were less than the full $90 for the maker.

If you're not sure about cutscenes, why not grab some games that have already been made with it, and see what they do. There was a "make a cutscene" contest when Ace was first released - I'm pretty sure the winners and runners up had links to their cutscenes posted.
  7. I'm in Canada and I'm not sure if it would be more expensive I just remember the price being close to 100, so sorry for my innacuracy. And can someone please send me a game, I've tried playing "Crysalis" (the game that came with the trial) but I can't seem to turn it on. So since I'm so helpless without a tutorial, if you send me a game, can you also send how to enable it? It would be greatly appreciated.

90$ should be 90$, no matter whhere you come from, atleast it was like that for me when i preordered.

3 Months Member+ are 14$ and the discounted maker is 72$, so yeah, that would make it cheaper and you will be able to get some really nice ressources for free.
  9. How exactly would I do that? And back to my previous question do you know any games that show off Ace's full capabilities?
  10. On the forums main page, there is an add for member+ on the right, below the recent status updates.

There are no games that would show something like "full capacity", simply due to scripting possibilites.

A really good quality and free game would be Ronove's Star Stealing Prince, which you can also find on the completed games section here.

Maybe you're looking for something specific?

You can also look through the completed games and project development sections in here, for a general idea of what is possible to do with the maker.
  11. I checked it out and even if it costs less, I would feel wrong to have a time limit. I still have 27 days left on my trial and I'm already freaking out. "Why continue if I'm just gunna lose it". Talk about OCD. :( And would you mind sending me a link to the game you mentioned, I can't navigate this website for some reason.
  12. You pay a certain amount to get it for a few months, then you lose it and have to pay the fee again, over time i'll be paying more but I might also stop playing it by then so it COULD be an improvement but then why not own it? Or am I completely missing the point.

And thanks for the game! :D
  13. Member + gives you access to ressources made by professionals, that you will not get otherwise, and a lot of them are free.

Also there are additional ressource packs you can buy in the shop here, which are also discounted if you are member + and you can even get most of the things before they are even in the shop.

It's not something you would lose at any point really. It's a constant improvement you pay for, if you stop paying, you just won't get additional new stuff, but you keep everything else.
  14. So if I pay the initial 3 months, I would still have the main game after that time limit?

And completely unrelated, but even though I have VX ACE, do I need to download the VX version to play that prince game or will it play on what I've got?
  15. If you buy the maker, you will keep it, unlimited. Member + just gives you an initial discount when purchasing and enables extra features (which i mentioned above) which are completely independant from the main programm.

No, you don't VX to play, there will be a stand alone .exe in the download.

The only time you would ever need the maker for something is if you would want to edit in some game, then you need to appropriate maker to open the game in the editor. You will always be able to play games without the maker, unless the creator of that game screwed up, which shouldn't be your problem tho ^^
  16. I'm sorry for the confusion. Once you purchase Ace, it's yours to keep and use FOREVER. The Member+ is the subscription-based thing. With that, you get FREE access to lots of additional resources - anything released in that area over the period of your subscription is yours to use, and you keep it even if you let your subscription expire. The only reason you'd have to stay subscribed is if you want to keep getting the Member+ resources that are released.

Member+ is completely separate from VX Ace. I mentioned it because you can get Ace AND Member+, which gives you lots of free resources, for less than the "public" price of Ace.

@Necromus, no, I mean exchange rates for people in "the rest of the world". Ace costs $90US. That is NOT the same as $90AUD. If I were to buy Ace now, it'd only cost me $85AUD.

Ah well, but that still shouldn't change that after conversion, you pay 90 USD, except Australia is some kind of exception there ^^
  18. It just dosen't make sense to me that they would sell the game for 20$ as long as you agree to take bonus free stuff!?!?

Why? Your part of "a special" few after all, if you decide on a membership on member +, of course that comes with benefits.
