Naming real and fake people in my game

Good evening everybody.

In the game I am developing, the player can choose the main character's name, so I thought it would have been funny giving the player some extra skills and characteristics if he/her chose some particular names.

These names I thought about are names of real people and books characters, so I am asking: to use these names in my game, do I need some License? Do I just have to explain it in the credits? Thanks in Advance.

I'm pretty sure there's no copyright on names, the only trouble you'd have in this situation is in trademark infringement. In most cases this won't be a problem. Trademarks are usually only done in cases where wide use of it would hurt brand identity.
