The Secret Stones
It has the same turn based gameplay, but is structured like a 90's 3D platformer like Banjo Kazooie, and Super Mario 64, where there is a hub world like a castle and you enter worlds via portal, instead of a world map like other RPG's. I also think there should be 100 macguffins to collect instead of 7 or 8. So it's Final Fantasy + Banjo-Kazooie/Super Mario 64 + Some of Super Paper Mario (No 2D gameplay gimmicks) So what does the secret stones involve?
The Location:
It is a castle that holds portals to other lands, that cannot be found outside the castle, like Gruntilda's lair.
The crystals in question:
There are two types crystals. The Crystal keys hidden in each world, and Maxis Crystals that holds magic. When attached to any weapon, it turns into a magical weapon.
Witches:
Witches in this game are like human Maxis Crystals. The magic does not come from the weapon or crystal, but rather comes from their blood. You can be born a witch but only by other witches, it doesn't happen by magic, ironically. A regular human could also become a witch by merging with a Maxis Crystal. They have no real alignment, they are not good but they are not evil. One witch will be a party member in the story.

As for the story aspect, I think there should be some repercussion for turning into a witch by merging with a crystal. Maybe something like a reduced lifespan or some sort of Maxis Crystal addiction (like a drug). Otherwise, everyone in this hypothetical universe would turn themselves into a witch, no?
Its not exactly a unique idea, but it definitely has potential depending on how you flesh out the details.

But there isn't really much here in terms of story ideas. I'm imagining all sorts ideas which involve these mechanics, and I'm sure none of them are as awesome as what you have planned. What's the objective of the game, other than collecting whatsits? -
In some stories, witches are either immortal or undead. Some people would desperately use it to bring a person to life, even if the person was mostly dead. As a result, the person would become immortal, as long as the magic doesn't run out completely. Well that's what I'm trying to think of. My stories are in the planning stages, but the best I can come up (without spoiling much) are the villains and the witches. If you do want some spoilers, just ask me.These are some nifty mechanic ideas, and I'd love to see them in action.
