...and I'm an RPGMaker-aholic.
Am I doing this right?
In all seriousness I have been working very hard for many months now, attempting to build my first RPG with RPGMaker MV. I'm pretty old (by gamer standards) and I really wanted a game that reminded me of the old Final Fantasy/Dragon Warrior/Chrono Trigger games.
So I'll probably have lots of questions on how to get better, and hopefully I'll have a Demo ready any day soon for you to critique and send me crying in a corner while I rebuild.
Thanks for reading.

Guld,
I'm very excited to see what you bring to the table. If you ever need any help or advice, feel free to private message me. Welcome to the team!

Thank you. I've reached out on discords before when I was stuck, and make sure to take advantage of all of the free content this community has made available (I will obviously be crediting everyone for their assistance and hard work).
I'm trying hard to do the following...
-Have a game that builds and plays nicely, not just in terms of game mechanics, but in Storyline as well.
-Have something for everyone. Backstory, History, Exploration, Fun Battle System, etc.
-I'm trying to make the battles and maps as pretty as I can while maintaining a "retro" vibe to it.
-Trying to develop the characters as best as I can (MANY playable characters so far, but you can choose to follow the timeline of one of the main six. Each one has slightly different content.)
-Going big....I already have approx. 2+ hours worth of gameplay so far...I can speed run it in about 1.5 I think. I'm only about oh...I don't know...maybe 1/20th of the way into it.
-Adding custom contents as much as I can. I try to modify graphics when necessary, and I developed a Steal system that works 100% the way the Steal system did in FFVI. (I couldn't find a tutorial for one out there, so I just did it myself....it was a lot of work, but I'm really happy with the way it turned out).
I've been at it for about 9 months I'd say, but I only REALLY got going on it in the last few. In the beginning I was spending SO much time just learning HOW to do what I wanted....but I think I can say that I'm finally at a point where I'm comfortable enough with the developer that I can build what I need, it's just a matter of time to get it all done.
Anyway, thank you for the warm welcome, I'll try to post some content soon. I appreciate everything this community is doing and respect all of the hard work and support you all provide. -
Welcome! If you're at least as old as I am, you'll remember having to save on that original Final Fantasy by staying at an inn and holding Reset while you turned the power off. Ahh, the days.
Hope you get everything you want out of RPG Maker and the community, ask any question and reach out for anything you need.
It's awesome here ^^ -
Welcome! You'll like it here. Great people and atmosphere. Very helpful, the best.
Stay Guld, ponyboy... Stay Guld.
@standardplayer 4 white mages for the win, brother. -
Nice to meet you. Many of senior or old people are here and you will be amazed how any adult here. If you need help on how to navigate in this website, you can send me the message. However, if you need help with the game stuff, you start the new thread because others people here have more experience than me and more people offer assistance.

Welcome and good luck on your project.
Ps: with all the old People here we could make A pong inspired game so don't worry about that lol -
Welcome! I feel similiar to you. CT is my all time fav game. Did you play Cosmic Star Heroine? I feel rpgmaker can make that quality of a game.
-
Thanks again for all the warm welcomes.
I can tell by the FFI, Pong, and Outsiders references that I may be in the right place haha.
I never played Cosmic Star Heroine, I'm googling the trailer right now.
I try to get a little bit of my game developed every day. Today I tried to fix my Scorpion Char.
(Before and After pic. It was originally a Lobster, so I think its come a long way.)
I'll try and upload something soon in the "Games in Development" Thread. -
Alright, I posted in the "Games in Development" forum. I'm going to hold off on posting a Demo link until I get the next chapter done and polished up. I SHOULD be able to get that done in the next few weeks, but I have a MUCH needed vacation coming up, so it might be a bit after that haha.
Anyway, I think there is enough in there to kinda show what I'm doing.
