So, title says it all, im looking for full tilesets for outdoor/world with a feal similar to diablo 2, specifically looking for just the
darker, more realistic appearance. i've considered attempting to use parallax mapping... but i have no artistic talent whatsoever. and i cannot use gimp or photoshop to save my life.
even just something a bit darker/grittier than the default assets would be fine so long as there are complete tilesets... looking through google and these forums all i've found are partial stuff, dont get me wrong there are some amazing resources out there.
but trying to dig through it all is not working out for me so far.
I do not have money to spend at this point so please keep that in mind before suggesting the obvious "well why don't you buy the medieval packs" the fact is i have a wife and daughter and a minimum wage job, I only even got the maker software cause a friend of mine knew i wanted it, they are a very good friend.
that said I am not asking anyone to make something for me from scratch, seriously please do not waste your time, just if anyone knows of something similar to what im looking for and can send me a couple links, that would be awesome

Honestly, you are rather out of luck.
Almost everyone who makes free resources makes them more in line with the traditional RPG Maker RTP styles of various engines. Jesse is about the only person I know of in the community that makes resources that would fit in a Diablo game, let alone make enough to put together an entire tileset.
Unless GrandmaDeb has a few people I am not aware of squirreled away on her resource lists, I honestly believe the sets from Pioneer Valley Games are "the only game in town" as it were.
You're only other options would be 1) commissioned work which would be even more expensive, 2) asset packs from other engines which will likely be just as if not more expensive plus potential licensing complications, 3) asset collection websites which are a real dice roll, because people who steal others work & try to pass it off as their own are very common, or 4) making your own. -
Thanks for the honest answer, I kind of figured as much but I'd rather post and see what pops up than spend a million hours looking for something that probably doesnt exist you know :p

There are several options, but as said a full tileset is so much work that all free resources just follow an existing style because they can't make full tilesets otherwise.
That said, here are two options for you:
1) the medieval packs are not the only more realistic option, you might want to check the ancient dungeon series in the shop for an alternative. That is also paid, but it is pixel art instead of render so it might be easier to find additional free resources.
2) you can activate RMMV on steam (if you haven't done this already) for free, and steam has sales more often, reducing the price.

I can't say I have, don't use steam much, maybe I'll take a look. Thanks

Diablo used 3d models rendered as 2d sprites, if you want similar graphics, get blender(free) and do some models. They don't need to be perfect.
