  1. Has there been an official character lore for the cover art characters? They have official names.

  2. I think about as much as the RTP characters.
You know...Reid's a pervert....Ralph's an idiot. Stuff like that.
  3. No. They're semi-random names referring to aspects of the engine.

For example, Harold, Therese, Marsha and Lucius = the first engine that runs in HTML.

The MZ characters just spell out RPG Maker.

The VX Ace actors spell out the publisher Enterbrain.

There's no such thing as any default game or story for the characters.
  4. They're placeholder names in case anyone is wondering - users are not required to use the names too.

There's no default lore because they're primarily art assets for public sale, so adding lore would be both unnecessary and invite potential barrages of copyrighted text questions/issues.
  5. I see, so I can rename them to any, nice. I have made my lore for the first 8.
  6. I always thought it would be kinda fun to make a little short game in each of the engines using 99% of that engines RTP and breathing some life into our adventurer's names..

but alas, I barely have time to work on my own game(s). :)

They unfortunately do not come with official backstories, at most you can kind of draw their characteristics from the theme songs they get and their costumes ....
But in the world of fan-cannon; especially with the RPG maker 2k/2k3 characters from oversea there seemed to have a consistent personality trait
  8. The closest you might get is the OST. IIRC each one comes with a theme song and those at least hint at something in addition to their default poses and emotions.

There is a jam focused on Harold and the world of MV. In these jams, I’ve seen many funny stories about Harold and his companions. This is also a way to give personality to placeholder characters.
