  1. I'm not sure if this is the correct location to post this topic, so I'm going to post it here and hope I get lucky.

I was wondering about the music bought from the main site. Is the use of this music limited to RPG maker only?

For example, I bought Inspirational Music 2. And there are several tracks on there that are very fitting for another possibly commercial project I'm working on using Ren'py. Would it be possible for me to do this?

I seem to recall that there was some sort of... list before that said "yes you can use this bought item in any program" or "no you can only use it for commercial use in RPG maker but not in other programs" etc.

Thank you very much for the assistance.
  2. Moving to Product Discussion and Support

Unfortunately, that pack is only for use in RPG Maker and IG Maker games. From the product's description page:

Royalty free music to use in your commercial and non-commercial RPG/IG Maker projects
Inspiration Vol. 1, however, CAN be used in non-RPG/IG Maker projects. It is quite a bit more expensive because of that. This may mean Inspirational Vol. 2 MAY be released for non-Enterbrain engines at some point down the track, but you would need to purchase the non-Enterbrain engine license (or maybe pay the difference in price).

To be clear what can and cannot be used outside of RPG Maker, visit the Non-RM page of the Products / Resources list. Everything on that page can be used in other engines, as long as you have the non-RM (ie more expensive) license.
  3. oh.... OH... So I decided to look at the Non RM, to see exactly what the price difference was thinking, oh okay I'll pay a couple bucks more and it's fine. I wasn't expecting it to be Triple price. Free to use music sure is expensive. What did I expect...  However, I suppose that it wouldn't have made a difference considering the songs I want aren't actually on the available Non RM music...

If I may, is there a particular reason that there is a difference there? Or rather, for what reason is the music only allowed to be used within the certain program?
  4. I think it boils down to the fact that allowing the resources to be used in other engines is encouraging the use of other engines, which are Enterbrain's competitors.
  5. Oh... right... That makes a lot of sense... and I really should have thought of that myself.

Thank you very much... you've been incredibly helpful.
